Security Clearance: SecretLocation: Crane, IN Job Type: Full-Time Target Salary Range*: $120,000 - $150,000.This represents the potential salary range for this position depending on education level, years of experience and/or certifications in addition to other position specific requirements which may impact salaryPosition OverviewAmatriot is currently looking for a mid-level Computer Engineer to join our team supporting Office of Naval Research (ONR) for the Department of Defense. Join our passionate team of industry-leading individuals on a program that leverages the best practices in Systems Engineering and Rapid Prototyping to integrate and deliver state-of-the-art capability in support of our nation’s warfighters.Key ResponsibilitiesFor this Computer Engineer position, you will be responsible for conducting research, developing new engineering solutions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to bring cutting-edge technologies to life.You WillDesign, develop, and test firmware and embedded C software for microcontrollers (e.g., RP2040 architectures) and single-board computers. Implement communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet) to reliably interface with sensors and custom hardware.Develop and integrate software for autonomy, control algorithms, and edge computing on robotics platforms. Utilize frameworks like ROS (Robot Operating System) to integrate custom code with COTS/GOTS hardware to support fast-paced project requirements.Perform hands-on benchtop debugging, code flashing, and software-to-hardware integration alongside electrical and mechanical engineers to build functional prototypes.Ensure that a level 2 Technical Data Package (TDP) is prepared and delivered for assigned projects that reach the prototype or low-rate production stages of development. The contractor shall assist in the development of the TDP.Create and maintain basic briefs for various prototype devices and prepare and deliver Installation Plans and drawings, as well as Test Plans for functional, performance, and environmental testing of prototypes.Validate hardware integration performance using approved industry and site-specific construction codes and policies.Travel to various Continental United States (CONUS) locations to support live test events and operational evaluations. Provide essential on-site technical support, real-time troubleshooting, and data collection for prototype systems under test.Interact with and coordinate prototype and low-rate installation and/or production with external parties tasked with producing units for assigned projects.Provide routine status updates and communicate urgent matters involving production issues to management and other stakeholders in a timely manner via phone, email, or other normal communication methods.Purchase material for the government as needed to support prototype and low-rate production for assigned projects.QualificationsA-BET accredited Bachelor’s Degree in computer engineering field or similar engineering disciplineMinimum 3 years of experience in a position requiring engineering expertiseEligibility for a SECRET clearance.Proficiency in CAD software and knowledge of simulation and analysis toolsRobotics experienceExperience with microcontrollersExperience prepping TDPsUnderstanding of simulation and analysis toolsExcellent technical writing and data presentation skillsTrack record of complex problem-solving aptitudeAbility to think analytically and independentlyTeam orientatedExcellent problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate clearly both orally and in written formWillingness to learn new skillsAbility to work on multiple projects concurrentlyPreferred Qualifications5-10 years Computer Engineering experience or other related technical fieldExisting experience producing civil systems and/or prototypes for projects on IAC MAC task ordersExperience in a civil engineering position working with IAC MAC customersExperience in DoD customer relations and civil engineering
