Health and Safety Specialist

The Health and Safety Specialist supports the development, coordination, and implementation of safety programs to ensure a safe work environment and compliance with all health and safety regulations. This role assists in reviewing and analyzing jobsites, working closely with supervisors to identify and eliminate hazards, and helps enforce adherence to corporate safety standards and applicable laws.MP Systems we believe in the Power to Serve along with the Pursuit of Excellence. As such the following values guide our behaviors: A Servant's Heart -- Focus on the Needs of Others, Wisdom -- Insightful, Integrity -- Honesty and Trustworthy, Courage -- Decisive and Confident in Others, Humility -- Modest and Respectful, Passion -- Unfailing DedicationEssential Duties And ResponsibilitiesSafety Program Support & Compliance:Assist in the review, evaluation, and analysis of work environments and safety practices to help prevent injuries and incidentsSupport the implementation of safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA, state, local, and company standardsVisit jobsites to observe field operations, monitor compliance, and encourage hazard recognitionNotify management of any observed safety violations and help ensure corrective actions are implementedProvide field crews with safety signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to control access to hazardous areasRespond to safety-related questions from employees and supervisors as a knowledgeable resourceParticipate in accident investigations, contribute to root cause analysis, and support development of prevention strategiesHelp prepare documentation for accident reports, insurance claims, and safety reviewsAssist in ensuring all jobsite safety, first aid, and fire prevention equipment is present and in working orderSupport documentation and submission of all required safety records, ensuring accuracy and regulatory complianceTraining & Field EngagementConduct weekly safety orientations for new hires and support their integration into the company's safety cultureAssist with the development and scheduling of safety talks and monthly meeting topics relevant to ongoing field conditionsDeliver on-the-job training in specific areas (e.g., aerial lift, forklift) after completion of appropriate training coursesSupport First Aid/CPR training sessions and assist the trainer as neededHelp coordinate contractor safety training and ensure field leadership begins meetings with a focus on safetyParticipate in accident review meetings at the branch or company level as neededPre-Construction & Planning SupportParticipate in pre-construction safety planning by conducting site visits and helping develop site-specific safety plans addressing PPE, hazards, and work practicesWork with project teams to ensure all customer and company safety requirements are identified and addressed before work beginsStay informed on emerging industry safety topics and recommend adjustments to programs and practices as neededSafety/Hazard Recognition & EliminationPre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task.Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention.Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company. Support goal of achieving zero accidents.Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed.Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel.Qualifications And RequirementsHigh School Diploma (or equivalent) requiredBachelor's Degree in Safety (or related field) preferred5+ years experience in safety and occupation healthPrior internship or work experience involving safety or leadership required3-5 years experience in an office environment with responsibility for a variety of dutiesPrior experience in the electrical or construction field preferredExperience, Skill And AbilitiesPositive safety attitude and personal integrity -- both are non-negotiableProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams)Competence to keep personnel information strictly confidentialAbility to see details and recognize errors, working with precise standards of accuracyAbility to exercise good business judgmentAbility to multi-task and thrive in an environment where numerous tasks and projects are occurring simultaneously and to meet deadlinesAccurate record-keeping skills and detail orientationStrong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to write clear reportsPhysical RequirementsOffice environment requiring sitting and standing.
