Leveraging innovative solutions and technologies, we servecustomers all over the world.About The PositionThe Electrical Engineering Intern shall assist in the development and implementation of clear,complete, and accurate work plans and design drawings of electrical/electronic hardware and/orcontrol software for continuous improvement and/or new product development projects.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but not limited to)Provide support to electrical engineers and designers in their tasks, such as creation ofdesigns, assembly drawings, design calculations, programming, testing, hardwareprogram uploads, wire harness design and troubleshooting.Provide support to electrical engineers and designers in finding replacements for obsoleteor long lead-time components.Uses computer-aided engineering, design software, and equipment to assist electricalengineers and designers in the develop electrical/electronic design drawings andschematics.Perform a variety of routine tasks that will provide the individual with familiarization withthe engineering methods, practices, and programs of the Company.Works with the Technical Publications Department to develop and updateoperation/parts/service manuals.Communicates with individuals at all levels within the organization.Documents assigned tasks as required.Performs work according to supervisor's directives when requested.Adheres to all Astec design and coding standards.Performs engineering calculations as required during design cycle.Follows all company policies and procedures at all times.Follows proper safety procedures at all times.Wears personal protective equipment as required.Maintains a clean and presentable work area.Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREDEnrolled in an accredited university bachelor’s degree program pursuing an electricalengineering or computer engineering major.Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0.Skills And Abilities RequiredJob-related Skills and AbilitiesProficient with computer-aided design software.Engineering drawing reading and interpretation skills.Ability to work satisfactorily as a team member.Good communication skills (both verbal and written).Good organization and time-management skills.Willingness to accept responsibility and take on new challenges.Proficiency with personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite software applications.Adept at problem solving.Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,technical procedures, or governmental regulations.Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups ofmanagers, clients, customers, and the general public.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and effectively present information tocustomers and/or employees of organization and respond to questions from groups ofmanagers, clients, customers, and the general public.Reasoning Ability SkillsAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagramform and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Must have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.Other RequirementsPre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check.Flexibility To Work Additional Hours As Required.Occasional travel (including international).Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.Authorized to work in the U.S. full-time and without restriction during your internship atcompany location(s).SAFETYAstec is dedicated to a culture of Behavior Based SAFETY and a Healthy Environment!Proficient in promoting safe and healthy work environment.Notify area supervisor of product discrepancies or equipment malfunctions.Adhere to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safetyregulations.Report defective materials, equipment, or questionable conditions to the areasupervisor/manager to identify and correct the root cause.Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with training guidelines.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by anemployee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Thenoise level in the office setting is usually moderate consistent with an office environment.Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts,machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles,welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electricshock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or causticchemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be veryloud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.Mines, road construction and forestry job site exposures include exposure to climate conditionsindicative of the geographic location and the season. Field duties require that the employee workin close proximity to heavy roadbuilding and construction equipment (dump trucks, loaders,cranes, crushers, pavers, cold planers, material transfer vehicles, stabilizers, wheel loaders,excavators, skidders, feller buncher, chippers, grinders etc.) and traffic associated with mines,road construction, forestry and recycling sites. The employee is frequently exposed to movingmechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high,precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibration and risk of electrical shock.
