Tax Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Tax Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Walnut Creek, California. In this role, you will ensure the accurate preparation and filing of individual and business tax returns while providing expert guidance on compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. This position requires someone who is detail-oriented, has strong knowledge of tax laws, and is committed to excellent client service.Responsibilities:- Collect, review, and analyze financial documents to prepare accurate tax returns for individuals and businesses.- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations during the preparation and filing process.- Identify and apply eligible tax credits and deductions to optimize client tax outcomes.- Examine financial records, including income statements and expense documentation, to determine required forms and procedures.- Provide strategic advice to clients on tax planning and liability management.- Address client and tax authority inquiries, assisting with audits and requests for additional information.- Maintain secure and organized records for all clients in compliance with legal and firm standards.- Keep up-to-date with changes in tax laws and industry practices to ensure accuracy and compliance.- Meet all filing deadlines and communicate progress updates to clients and team members. Requirements - Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.- Proven experience in preparing tax returns for individuals and businesses.- Proficiency in tax preparation software, such as Lacerte, and the Microsoft Office Suite.- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities.- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.- Certification as a Tax Preparer or Enrolled Agent is a plus.- Familiarity with individual tax returns and tax compliance processes.- Strong analytical skills to identify tax-saving opportunities and ensure accuracy.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
