Senior Mechanical Engineer
I’m partnering with an early-stage hardware company building next-generation systems to enable water independence - creating technology that can generate clean water on demand from natural and existing sources without reliance on traditional infrastructure. Their mission sits at the intersection of climate resilience, infrastructure innovation, and high-performance engineering. They are now scaling a lean, high-calibre team and hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take ownership of critical subsystems within their core platform. This is a high-impact, hands-on role for an engineer who thrives in ambiguity, operates with strong ownership, and has a track record of delivering complex hardware systems from concept through production in fast-paced environments. This is a full time, onsite position in Torrance, CA.Key Responsibilities:Own the design, sizing, and dynamic analysis of fluid systems, including pumps and check valves, from concept through production launch.Perform structural analysis on pressure vessels, including defining safety margins and applying new materials to novel engineering challenges.Conduct system-level thermal analysis, making trade-offs to optimize performance and long-term reliability.Drive engineering decisions across performance, manufacturability, and cost, operating effectively with incomplete information.Lead end-to-end development of mechanical subsystems, from undefined requirements through to production-ready solutions.Mentor and support junior engineers while remaining deeply hands-on in design and execution.Key Qualifications:5–12 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a track record of designing and shipping hardware systems (e.g., pumps, valves, pressure vessels, or fluid systems).Proven experience owning technically ambiguous problems end-to-end, from initial concept to delivered product.Experience delivering mechanical subsystems on accelerated timelines (e.g., 6–12 months). Background in high-performance, fast-execution environments (e.g., aerospace, defense, or similarly demanding industries).Direct experience with pump or valve design, including sizing and dynamic analysis.Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; strong academic background preferred.Proficiency with production-grade CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, NX) and applying FEA to real-world hardware.Experience with structural and/or fluid analysis, including pressure vessel design and thermal/system-level modeling.Strong understanding of DFM/DFA principles, including tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing process development for scaled production.By applying to this role you understand that we may collect your personal data and store and process it on our systems.
