Clinical Specialist Speech Pathologist - Per Diem - Days - 8hr QVH

Speech Language PathologistConducts clinical speech and language pathology services including patient evaluation, interpretation of evaluation results and intervention relating to various diagnoses for pediatric, child, adult and geriatric patients. The therapist will accurately assess and treat language/speech and swallowing impairments resulting from neurological insult/disease, developmental disabilities and delays, impaired oral motor abilities or laryngeal functions, dehydration/malnutrition or change in anatomy secondary to trauma or surgery. Communicates with physicians and other referral sources, and provides clinical guidance to non-licensed personnel. Works with various healthcare team members. The Therapist will administer contrast media, under the direct supervision of the attending radiologist, during videofluoroscopy in order to observe, collect data, and measure parameters of swallowing. Individual Therapists are assigned age population as per training. Job Requirements a. Minimum Education Requirement: A minimum of 50 hours of continuing education must be accrued in a specialty area(s). To maintain status, SLP must attend at least one continuing education course per year in the specialty area(s). b. Minimum Experience Requirement: Five years of active licensed clinical SLP experience is required. Competent in 2-3 of the following areas: Bedside Swallow Evaluation, Videofluoroscopy, Blue Dye Swallow Evaluation. Excellent customer service skills required. c. Minimum License Requirement: Current California licensure as an Speech Language Pathologist. BLS Required. Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) through ASHA. Certifications required for specific procedures. Under extenuating circumstances, a grace period of no more than one month will be allowed for ASHA Certification of Clinical Competency renewals. Annual 2 hours of stroke education required for those working at QVH. Shift: Must be available to work at least two weekend days per month, based on department needs. Pay Range: $60.00 - $60.00
