Healthcare Switchboard Receptionist / Phone Room Coordinator
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and knowledgeable Healthcare Switchboard Receptionist to join our team and provide exceptional customer service to patients, providers, and staff. This role is ideal for an experienced healthcare professional who is comfortable managing high call volumes in a fast-paced medical environment. Candidates with clinical backgrounds such as Medical Assistant (MA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Registered Nurse (RN) are strongly preferred.ResponsibilitiesAnswer, screen, and route incoming calls professionally and efficientlyTake accurate messages and relay information promptly to providers and staffAssist patients with general questions, appointment-related inquiries, and medication-related communicationsProvide outstanding customer service while maintaining professionalism and confidentialityManage multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy phone room environmentCommunicate clearly with patients, providers, pharmacies, and clinical staffMaintain accurate documentation within electronic medical records and office systemsSupport additional administrative and patient service duties as assigned QualificationsMinimum of 2 years of healthcare experience requiredHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredCertified Medical Assistant (MA), LPN, or RN strongly preferredStrong understanding of medical terminologyAbility to pronounce and understand common medication namesExcellent communication, phone etiquette, and customer service skillsAbility to multitask and thrive in a high-volume call environmentComfortable sitting for the majority of the workdayProficiency with computer systems, EMR/EHR platforms, and office softwareStrong organizational skills and attention to detail Preferred SkillsExperience working in a medical office, clinic, specialty practice, or hospital settingFamiliarity with triaging patient concerns and escalating urgent calls appropriatelyAbility to remain calm, compassionate, and professional under pressure
