Position Title: Health & Safety ManagerOglethorpe, GAPay Rate:$121,100-$148,100Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.Category/Shift:Salaried Full-TimeAbout The Role:• Provide leadership, coordination, and technical expertise in the area of health and safety at the Flint River mill to employees, mill leadership, contractors, and H&S team members.• Accountable for establishing reliable and sustainable methods for improving safety performance using the hierarchy of controls, nourishing a learning culture in which safety is a core value in all activities and in which every team member assumes accountability for safety, and assuring compliance with regulatory requirements• Develop and implement policies, procedures, programs, and tools to ensure compliance with government regulations and IP policies in a way that leads to a safe and injury-free work environment• Coordinate and Manage health and safety audit programs including corrective action plan tracking and SharePoint management for Safety program.• Develop and implement effective safety training programs including support for monthly crew safety meeting content, new hire training, and Contractor Orientation/ training.• Provide leadership and coordinate efforts to drive continual improvement of health and safety program effectiveness• Recommend changes to reduce safety hazards and health risks and provide project support to business units as needed to help implement and execute changes.• Provide functional expertise and strategic direction to achieve our vision of an accident-free workplace while positively influencing profitability and operational excellence• Provide tools, information and guidance to the department hourly Safety Coordinators so that their efforts are cohesive, uniform and coordinated, including annual safety training• Facilitate sharing of Safety Best Practices between mill departments and the enterprise• Foster mill-change towards a safety culture by:o Demonstrating behaviors that reflect the core principles of safety and personal commitment to safety excellenceo Establishing a high standard of behavior for all employees and managers that is reinforced through feedback and coachingo Engaging all mill employees in the safety process and empowering them to take personal ownership for safety resultso Generating mill-wide excitement and demonstrating a positive attitude toward the ultimate goalo Treat all contractors, visitors, and vendors as extensions of the mill population and hold them accountable to the mill's safety standards as applicable• Oversight of the industrial hygiene and ergonomics programs• Maintain required information (Incident Prevention System database, OSHA 300 log, lagging and leading indicators, ISNetworld database, etc.) and analyze data to provide information to management and identify problem areas and safety trends• Develop an annual safety calendar and annual schedule for safety training• Assist Emergency Response Team (ERT) in coordination of staffing and training requirements• Provide leadership and management support to the Safety Coordinator and area safety team members• Manage Security contracted services as their IP Contract Coordinator (IPCC) and consult on security infrastructure to ensure the mill site is secure.• Manage Safety Engineers at the mill and report to the EHS Manager• Provide support to mill ensuring 24-hour support is available for emergency response on a daily basis and increased presence of Safety Manager/Engineer during outages.• Manage injuries and worker compensation cases potentially including travel to the hospital when injuries occur and follow up through Health Services and third-party providers to ensure proper care to employees• Support ADA discussions initiated through the Health Services department• Manage the Health Services Department employees and act as IPCC to contracted Health Services vendor• Responsible for coordinating visits with Corporate EHS staff and responding to OSHA visits as needed.• Responsible for ensuring corporate mandates are implemented and executed successfully and report out to corporate team as needed.Quality ExpectationsEnsure an understanding of quality policy and support efforts for a positive customer experience.Aid in the execution of mill-wide quality efforts as needed to help maintain mill quality standards.About You: Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesB.S. in occupational health and safety or technical discipline with significant related experience and exposure to OSHA general industry requirementsCSP and/or CIH certification preferredStrong computer skills in MS Office and ability to navigate/manage Online databasesSharePoint use and management is a plusMinimum of 7 years' experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment with at least two years' experience in a leadership roleDemonstrated strong propensity to lead based on successful formal leadership experienceStrong interpersonal skills with a developed competency to influence othersExpertise in Process Safety Management (PSM) is a plusDemonstrated ability to build and lead cross-functional teams including knowledge of basic facilitation techniquesClear ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects and deadlines with an attention to detailsExperience with Six Sigma and change management processes is a plusStrong written and oral communication skills to effectively convey priorities and concepts to all levels of the
