Position SummaryAs the Digital Editor, you will play a crucial role in shaping and executing our content strategy across various digital platforms. The successful candidate will have native fluency in digital trends and technologies, paired with a strong journalistic background. The Digital Editor will collaborate closely with the content team to ensure that our digital presence is fresh, engaging, and aligned with the publication’s values.About The Baylor LineThe Baylor Line is an independent, nonprofit alumni media organization serving Baylor graduates through a magazine, newsletters, podcasts, events, and a growing membership community. We exist to tell long-form, creative stories about every Baylor grad – with independence, inclusiveness, and impact – and to provide rigorous coverage from beyond campus. Our team is made up of generous, creative folks who want to see the best for their fellow teammates, our members, and the organization. We take finding the “right fit” candidate very seriously. Meet the rest of our team here.Key ResponsibilitiesSocial & Marketing Content Creation:Generate fresh content ideas that connect with Baylor alumni across generations. You're not here to maintain — you're here to experiment. Pitch new formats, test new platforms, and bring energy to our digital storytelling. Not every idea will land, and that's fine. Your job is to keep the ideas flowing and iterate quickly based on what resonates.Audience Tracking & Engagement:Be the voice that makes our readers feel seen. You have a gift for sensing what people need — use it. Monitor comments, messages, and engagement patterns not just for metrics, but for meaning. What are our readers really saying? What do they need from us that we're not giving them? Bring those insights to the team.Digital Content Production:Write, edit, review, format, and publish digital content that meets The Baylor Line's editorial standards, including Classic articles, SEO article production, and newsletters. You care about quality — lean into that. Fact-check. Polish. Push for excellence. But here's the deal: perfection isn't the goal. Published and excellent beats perfect and stuck in drafts. Know when to ship.Social Media & Platform Management:Own our social media presence. This is fast-moving, ever-changing territory — your natural habitat. You don't need a 47-step process; you need clear goals and the freedom to chase them your way. Track what's working. Adjust quickly. Bring competitive energy — watch what others in our space are doing and find ways to win.Collaborative Storytelling:Partner with the Editor-in-Chief, staff writers, contractors, and interns to bring stories to life across digital platforms. When you work with interns or other team members, notice what they do well. Encourage their growth and find ways to support it.Analytics & Strategy:Review performance data regularly — not to check the box, but to learn. What's the story behind the numbers? Use historical context (what worked before?) and strategic thinking (what should we try next?) to inform content decisions. You don't need to create elaborate reports; you need to know what the data is telling us and act on it.Video & Podcast Production:Serve as managing producer of our video and podcast series.
