The company designs and manufactures light measurement systems, integrating spheres, reflectance materials, and optical calibration solutions used across aerospace, automotive, LED/lighting, medical device, and defense markets worldwide.Occasional travel to Peabody required due to an extension of the company's capabilities in specialty light sources and radiometric instrumentation.This company is in an active growth phase. The Controller will be central to the financial rigor, reporting discipline, and operational transparency that PE ownership demands.Role OverviewThe Controller is the senior accounting and financial reporting leader who will be reporting directly to the CFO. This is a hands-on, execution-oriented role. You will own the close, manage the team through month-end, deliver PE-grade reporting to sponsors and lenders, and build the financial infrastructure that supports growth and future transactions.The right candidate has done this before in a manufacturing environment, thrives under tight deadlines, and takes personal ownership of accuracy and speed.Core ResponsibilitiesOwn and execute the monthly close within 5 - 7 business days across all legal entitiesPrepare consolidated financial statements and entity-level P&L, balance sheet, and cash flowDeliver PE-grade reporting including EBITDA bridge, normalized EBITDA support, and variance analysis with operational driversEnsure financial data supports board packages, lender reporting, and sponsor dashboardsLead all manufacturing cost accounting including standard costing, variance analysis, BOM integrity, routings, overhead absorption, and labor efficiency Partner with operations to improve gross margin visibility, support pricing decisions, and identify cost-reduction opportunitiesMaintain disciplined controls around inventory valuation and excess and obsolete reservesManage accounting across multiple legal entities including inter-company transactions, eliminations, reconciliations, and transfer pricing documentationLead annual budgeting and frequent reforecasting aligned to sponsor expectationsPrepare and maintain 13-week cash flow forecasts; support CFO with working capital analysis and CapEx ROI trackingDrive improvements in AR collections, inventory turns, and AP disciplineDesign and maintain strong internal controls appropriate for PE ownership; ensure IFRS compliance and covenant calculationsManage tax compliance across sales/use, property, and income tax provisions in coordination with external advisorsServe as primary contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and lenders; keep the company audit-ready and diligence-ready at all timesOwn financial integrity of the ERP system (Epicor); lead process automation, chart of accounts optimization, and reporting improvementsSupport bolt-on acquisitions, post-acquisition integration, and diligence processes including Quality of Earnings and data room preparationLead and develop the accounting team with a high-accountability mindset; establish clear roles, deadlines, and ownership across the closePromote cross-training and documentation to reduce key-person risk and build a scalable accounting functionRequired BackgroundBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance8–12+ years of progressive accounting experienceManufacturing and cost accounting experience requiredProven ownership of the monthly close process and the team that executes itExperience managing multi-entity environments and inter-company accounting13-week cash flow preparation experienceStrong U.S. IFRS knowledge; advanced Excel and ERP proficiency (Epicor a plus; SAP, Oracle, and similar platforms are transferable)CPA or CMA (Preferred)Prior experience in a PE-backed company with direct exposure to sponsor reporting,EBITDA analysis, and lender compliance (Preferred)Experience supporting due diligence including Quality of Earnings and data room preparation (Preferred)Familiarity with multi-jurisdiction tax compliance (Preferred)Compensation & PerksBase Salary: $150,000 based on experienceAnnual Performance Bonus: Tied to individual and company performanceHybrid schedule: 3 days in the North Sutton, NH office, 2 days remoteFull benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and retirement planDirect access to CFO and PE-backed leadership teamHigh-visibility role with real impact on company performance and value creationJ-18808-Ljbffr
