Job SummaryThe Plant Manager is responsible for overall facility and production operations, with full accountability for quality, production scheduling, continuous improvement, team leadership, operational excellence, safety, and employee development.This role leads day-to-day operations while driving continuous improvement and workforce development, ensuring business objectives and customer commitments are consistently achieved. It is a hands-on leadership position requiring strong shop floor presence, the ability to lead through supervisors, and effective collaboration with executive management.Key CompetenciesStrong leadership and decision-making skillsHigh energy, results-oriented approach with strong accountabilityAbility to balance short-term execution with long-term improvement initiativesForward-thinking mindset with the ability to anticipate and respond to changes in labor, technology, and business trendsPrimary ResponsibilitiesProductionOversee all aspects of manufacturing operations, including production planning, scheduling, and executionEnsure production targets for efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery are consistently metIdentify and track quality defects resulting in rework or scrap; apply root cause analysis and implement corrective actionsBalance production demands with equipment and labor availabilityFacilitate smooth production flow by removing bottlenecks and ensuring proper tools, fixtures, and training are in placeSafety & ComplianceEstablish and maintain a strong safety culture; ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company standardsLead and participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actionsEnsure required training (overhead crane, respiratory, LOTO, etc.) is completed per regulatory standardsOversee all annual facility inspections, including fire systems, cranes, forklifts, boilers, alarms, backflow preventers, eyewash stations, and extinguishersEnsure all on-site visitors comply with safety protocolsLeadership & CoachingFoster a positive, accountable, and performance-driven cultureIdentify skill gaps and implement training and development initiativesManage workforce planning and staffing to meet production demands and evolving skill requirementsContinuous ImprovementPartner with shop leadership and Manufacturing Engineering to drive Lean and Six Sigma initiativesCollaborate with executive leadership to develop and track KPIs that improve efficiency and profitabilityPromote employee engagement in continuous improvement programs (Create, Change Request, Quality Concerns)Identify and recommend capital investments to enhance efficiency, safety, quality, and growth capabilitiesMaintenance & Equipment ReliabilityOversee scheduling and execution of preventive maintenance for equipment and facilitiesDevelop and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance program with centralized tracking of repairs and historyMonitor equipment performance to proactively identify repair or replacement needs before failures occur
