Accountant Staff

Position Summary:The Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of assigned journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure the integrity of JetBlue's internal and external reporting. This includes month end and quarter end accruals, reclasses, interfacing with the business, and researching accounting line items. The role will focus on accounting for the Finance department, Facilities, and other departments as necessary.Essential Responsibilities:Responsible for monthly journal entries to record, as determined by assigned accountsReconcile assigned balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis; resolve any reconciling items on a timely basisNetwork with cost centers to obtain needed information for monthly closeAssist in variance analysis of assigned Balance Sheet accounts and related Profit and Loss accountsEnsure internal controls are effectively maintained for assigned tasksRecommend improvements to the efficiency of accounting processes and timeliness of deliverablesContribute to special projectsAll other duties as assignedMinimum Experience and Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant experienceOne (1) year of accounting experienceProficient with the Microsoft Office suiteExcellent verbal and non-verbal communication skillsStrong analytical skillsDetail-orientedAvailable for occasional overnight travel (10%)Must pass a pre-employment drug testMust be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is locatedAuthorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorshipPreferred Experience and Qualifications:* SAP experience* CPA or CPA eligibleCrewmember Expectations:Regular attendance and punctualityPotential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-noticeAble to maintain a professional appearanceWhen working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraftMust be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and FunPromote JetBlue's #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue's Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standardsIdentify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue's confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.Equipment:* Computer and other office equipmentWork Environment:* Traditional office environmentPhysical Effort:* Generally not required, or up to 10 pounds occasionally, 0 pounds frequently (Sedentary)Compensation:* The base pay range for this position is between $64,350.00 and $89,600.00 per year.
