Application must be completed in full.Position SummaryManage the execution and advancement of Port Houston’s business plan for Port Houston’s Multi-Purpose Facilities. Align with the organization’s strategic objectives by supporting the management and growth of waterborne tonnage and drive revenue growth through operational excellence. Collaborate cross-functionally to identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities, providing leadership throughout the business development lifecycle. Ensure optimal utilization, maintenance, and operational efficiency of all Multi-Purpose Facilities through proactive asset management and capital planning. Directly oversee operations staff and functions, including the Truck Office, Vessel Scheduling, Operations Supervisors, wharf and lower-level restroom cleaning crews, and related day-to-day terminal activities, maintaining the highest standards of safety, service, and regulatory compliance.Key Responsibilities/DutiesDirectly oversee all terminal activities from a landlord perspective, to ensure a successful, safe, secure, and sustainable operating environment with all port partnersManage rates, rules, and requirements outlined in Tariff 8, recommending proactive adjustments based on market conditions to remain competitiveDirect the negotiations and management of terminal lease agreements and freight handling assignments, to promote fair competition among port users while achieving the highest return and optimal utilization of cargo terminalsCollaborate with and provide guidance to other Port Houston departments, including but not limited to Project Construction Management, Real Estate, Trade Development, and Environmental Affairs as requiredDevelop short and long-term financial forecasts, revenue projects, and expense budgets for Multi-Purpose facilities, in alignment with the Chief Port Operations OfficerServe as the primary point of contact for customers, freight handlers, vessel operators, Houston ship pilots, the Port Terminal Railroad Association and other users of the Multi-Purpose facilities to resolve inquiries and support operationsInterface with regulatory Agencies such as Customs and Border Protection, US Coast Guard, USDA and the Army Corp of Engineers as neededAssist users of Port Houston in the delivery of special project cargoes to our facilitiesUphold safety, security, and environmental standards with all port usersDirect the Central Maintenance department on project prioritization and routine maintenance needsEvaluate existing processes and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and proficiencyAct in accordance with and promote Port Houston core values (respect, excellence, accountability, diligence, and you)Perform other duties as requiredEducation/ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Maritime Administration, Operations Management, Transportation, or related major from a public or accredited private academic institution required7+ years related terminal logistics or management experience requiredPrevious supervisory experience requiredKnowledge, Skills And AbilitiesKnowledge of Maritime operations and cargo handling equipmentIn depth technical and operational knowledge of all Port Houston Multi-Purpose facilitiesKnowledge of current lease agreements, freight handling assignments and related contractual obligationsKnowledge of Microsoft Office products, Port Houston operating systems, Port Houston financial processes and Port Houston internal reporting Collaboration, relationship and team building skillsPresentation and political skillsPragmatic and strategic decision-making skillsAbility to promote business relationshipsAbility to delegate responsibilityAbility to maintain perspective to manage conflictAbility to build customer and stakeholder loyalty and trustAbility to pay attention to detailAbility to continuously improve, make decisions and facilitate needed changeAbility to employ a global perspectiveAbility to think creatively and take risks to achieve innovative resultsA Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) must be obtained within 30Key Competencies RequiredAchieving ResultsCollaborationInformation MonitoringPlanning and OrganizingLeading Through Vision and ValuesThis work site location of this job is:Executive Office BuildingWork EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
