Job Title: Java Backend Engineer (Spring / Hibernate)Location: Dallas, TXImmediate Joiners RequiredMode for Hire: Full Time Looking for 8-10 Years of expProject ContextWe are initiating a Proof of Concept (POC) to modernize and decouple the Rules Engine from an existing enterprise Crew Management system.The goal is to:Improve flexibility and scalability of rule processingEnable cleaner request-response-based architectureReduce long-term cost and complexity in rule managementKey ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement backend enhancements in an existing Java-based Crew Manager systemRefactor and decouple tightly coupled rule-processing componentsBuild and optimize request-response based integrations with external rule enginesWork closely with domain experts to understand complex business logic and workflowsContribute to architecture decisions for scalable rule managementEnsure high code quality, performance, and maintainabilitySupport POC validation through rapid prototyping and iterationRequired Skills & ExperienceStrong hands-on experience in Core JavaProven experience with:Spring Framework (Spring Boot preferred)Hibernate / JPASolid understanding of:Backend system designAPI-driven architecture (RESTful services)Application decoupling patternsExperience working with complex enterprise systems or legacy modernizationStrong debugging and performance optimization skillsGood to HaveExposure to rules engines / decision systemsExperience in airline or crew management systemsPrior work on large monolithic system decompositionFamiliarity with event-driven or microservices architectureKey Challenges (What Makes This Role Interesting)Working directly with a complex, domain-heavy systemNavigating and modifying deep legacy codebasesEnabling architectural transformation without disrupting existing workflowsHigh ownership in shaping a solution that could scale into a larger initiative
