Tax Manager

Aligned Solutions is seeking a an experienced and client-focused Tax Manager with a strong background in small to mid-sized CPA firm environments. This individual will play a key role in managing client relationships, reviewing complex tax engagements, and leading a team of tax professionals. This position has the opportunity for partner track.In addition to oversight responsibilities, this role is hands-on and will require active involvement in tax preparation, accounting, and client deliverables. The ideal candidate is both technically strong and people-oriented, with a proven ability to mentor staff while also rolling up their sleeves to support client work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.Key Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of individual, corporate, partnership, and trust clients, serving as the primary point of contactReview and finalize federal and state tax returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to deadlinesPrepare complex tax returns and assist with accounting and payroll engagements as neededProvide strategic tax planning and advisory services tailored to client needsOversee and participate in the preparation of tax provisions and financial reporting related to tax mattersSupervise, train, and mentor junior staff and senior accountants, fostering professional development and team growthManage workflow, delegation, and project timelines across multiple engagementsBalance hands-on client work with review responsibilities, similar to a partner-level “player-coach” modelStay current on tax laws and regulations, advising clients and internal teams on relevant changesAssist with practice development, including identifying opportunities for additional services within existing client relationshipsEnsure adherence to firm policies, procedures, and quality control standardsWhat Success Looks LikeClients receive proactive, accurate, and timely tax guidanceEngagements are completed efficiently with minimal reworkWork is effectively balanced between personal production and team oversightTeam members are supported, developed, and retainedStrong internal collaboration and a positive team culture
