Infusion Pharmacy Technician
DescriptionInfusion Care CoordinatorThe Infusion Care Coordinator is responsible for working directly with patients, payers, prescribers, nursing services, and other clinical and administrative staff to collaborate care for infusion patients in various settings such as in the home or ambulatory infusion centers/suites.The Infusion Care Coordinator is knowledgeable on coordinating many aspects of the patient processes surrounding their care such as the setup of appropriate consent forms, scheduling, and support supplies and DME (durable medical equipment). The individual will need to work with clinical staff members, nursing agencies and other individuals as it relates to care coordination for infusion services. S/he is responsible for maintaining open communication among all parties involved in infusion services for patients.The duties and responsibilities of the Infusion Care Coordinator include, but are not limited to:Work with the billing department to ensure a thorough benefits investigation has been conducted and any insurance requirements are satisfied prior to rendering servicesEducate patients and process any required consent forms prior to delivery of careSelect and refer cases to the appropriate nurse, or nursing agency and ensure scheduling is conducted in a timely fashion and in preparation for any dosing due datesSupport the coordination efforts needed to ensure all supplies, medications and staff needed to deliver care on the scheduled date are ready and availableConduct pre and post infusion check in’s with patients and nurses and ensure necessary documentation is on file and forwarded to prescribers as appropriateAssist with patient collections and support any available patient advocacy efforts to help with cost shares (including third-party programs and payment plans)Support any administrative duties associated with patient care in all available settings, including potential front desk/reception coverage for infusion suite(s)Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThe Infusion Care Coordinator does not hold any direct supervisory roles.QualificationsMust have at least 2 years of medical/healthcare experience.Pharmacy and medical billing are highly desirable but not required.Related experience in collections, finance, patient care and communications, or similar qualifications are highly desirable.Knowledge with EMR systems, healthcare compliance and related legislation is a must.Outstanding verbal and written communication skills as they will be a key contact point for the company.Must have ability to work effectively within all levels of the organization, from executives to individual contributors.Strong project management and cross-group collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to plan and drive results and achieve deadlines.Ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality, demonstrate outstanding judgement, and be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.Work EnvironmentThe Infusion Coordinator thrives in a faced-paced work environment. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk and perform work on a computer in an office environment. Minimal lifting as required for office supplies and equipment.
