Job Summary:The Marina Dock Hand is responsible for providing exceptional service to guests utilizing the marina's facilities, ensuring safe docking, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the marina and surrounding areas. This role involves assisting with boat arrivals and departures, handling equipment, managing marina supplies, and ensuring a positive and memorable experience for guests. The Marina Dock Hand plays a crucial role in the daily operation of the marina, focusing on safety, guest satisfaction, and operational efficiency. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:Guest Assistance & Service: Greet and assist guests as they arrive and depart from the marina, offering support with boat docking and mooring. Provide excellent customer service by offering boaters information about marina services, amenities, and hotel offerings. Assist guests with loading/unloading their boats and equipment, ensuring the process is safe and efficient. Ensure guests are aware of safety procedures, rules, and regulations while using the marina, and provide guidance as needed. Marina Maintenance & Safety: Monitor the condition of dock facilities, including docks, piers, and boat slips, ensuring they are clean, safe, and in good working order. Regularly inspect marina areas for hazards and report any issues related to safety or maintenance to the Marina Manager. Clean marina facilities, including docks, walkways, and surrounding areas, ensuring they are free of debris and well-maintained. Maintain the cleanliness of the marina's restrooms, showers, and lounge areas, ensuring a pleasant experience for guests. Assist in the proper storage and maintenance of marina equipment, including fuel pumps, boat lifts, and maintenance tools. Boat Handling & Docking: Assist with the safe docking and undocking of boats, ensuring guests and vessels are secure at all times. Provide assistance to guests in securing boats properly and checking mooring lines to ensure boats are safely tied to the docks. Respond to emergency situations quickly and effectively, including boat mishaps or guest concerns, following safety protocols. Assist with the launch and retrieval of boats, ensuring proper safety measures are followed at all times. Equipment Management & Inventory: Monitor marina supplies and equipment, including life jackets, mooring lines, fuel, and cleaning products, and report inventory needs to the Marina Manager. Maintain an organized and well-stocked inventory of marina-related equipment and supplies. Help set up and manage rental equipment, such as kayaks, paddleboards, and other recreational equipment, ensuring items are ready for guest use. Safety & Emergency Preparedness: Ensure that marina safety protocols are followed by guests and staff, including monitoring weather conditions, water safety, and dock safety. Maintain all safety equipment, including life vests, first-aid kits, and fire extinguishers, ensuring they are in good working order and easily accessible. Act as a first responder in the event of an emergency, providing assistance in emergencies such as medical incidents or accidents at the marina. Operational Support & Collaboration: Work closely with the Marina Manager and other hotel departments to ensure smooth daily operations and the integration of marina services with hotel offerings. Help with marina promotions or events, ensuring guests are informed and services are appropriately offered. Assist in the upkeep of marina records, including guest logs, boat slip availability, and fuel usage. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in boating, maritime safety, or hospitality preferred. Previous experience in a marina, recreational, or hospitality setting is a plus. Knowledge of basic boat handling, marina operations, and water safety regulations is highly desirable. CPR and first aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification. Skills/Specialized Knowledge Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle inquiries and resolve issues efficiently. Knowledge of boat handling, docking, and marina operations is preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks. Basic knowledge of maintenance procedures and equipment handling. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain safety and cleanliness standards. Proficiency in marina-specific tools and equipment. Physical Demands Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including exposure to sun, wind, and rain. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, such as boat equipment, life vests, and supplies. Ability to stand, walk, kneel, or bend for extended periods. Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and efficiently. Ability to operate a variety of marina equipment and boats, including fuel pumps and docking equipment.
