Department StoresUsed Merchandise RetailersBeer, Wine, and Liquor RetailersShoe RetailersOffice Supplies, Stationery, and Gift RetailersPosition ObjectiveThe Assistant Store Manager is primarily responsible for supporting the store manager in managing sales, operations, asset protection, and human resources to ensure a great customer experience and maximum profitability.Functional ResponsibilitiesPrepares weekly schedules, ensuring proper floor coverage within fiscal guidelines; reviews timesheets and payroll documentation for accuracy.Promotes customer service by ensuring associates greet and assist customers; responds to inquiries and complaints promptly.Supervises associates engaged in sales, inventory receipt, cash reconciliation, or in performing services for customers.Models sales expectations by using various techniques and communicating product knowledge; recommends merchandise selections or helps locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.Maintains visual appeal of the store, ensuring proper housekeeping, visual merchandising and organization to the highest standard.Trains associates on visual merchandising techniques.Monitors associate sales activities and productivity; acknowledges and communicates performance; motivates and trains to achieve full potential.Performs all financial activities effectively and in accordance with policy, including cash handling and reporting, price changes, merchandise handling, ensuring all register transactions are accurate.Administers operational processes: inventory receipt/dispatch, daily replenishment of floor merchandise levels, execution and preparation of physical inventories.Facilitates and manages general store operations to ensure the store is in working order and adequately maintained.Supports compliance with laws, loss prevention policies, operating procedures and controls; conducts associate training to reinforce proper controls.Assists in recruiting, hiring and development of store associates; interprets KPI reports, delivers coaching and provides feedback to the Store Manager for performance appraisals and evaluations.Other duties as assigned or required.This position may be found in multiple brands; some duties may vary by brand.CompetenciesCulture – Living the Chico's FAS Values and Guiding Principles by demonstrating Customer Focus, Instilling Trust, Driving Engagement and Delivering Results with High Performance.Manages Complexity – Making sense of complex, high-quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to solve problems.Plans and Aligns – Planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.Organizational Savvy – Maneuvering comfortably through complex policy, process, and people-related organizational dynamics.Courage – Stepping up to address difficult issues and saying what needs to be said.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Must be 18 years old or older.Minimum 3 years prior retail or sales management experience preferred.Excellent communication, verbal and written skills.Excellent customer service skills.Knowledge of administrative aspects of store operations.Ability to travel to stores throughout the district.Physical ability: operate register, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, hand/fold merchandise, climb, reach, push/pull.Regular attendance is essential to ensure adequate coverage.Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.CompensationThe wage range for this position is $19.00 to $23.75.
