Robert Half is seeking a Systems Administrator role to support a high-tech manufacturing facility for a fast-growing U.S.-based technology company operating in a regulated, defense-adjacent space. This is not a corporate IT role — it is hands-on, floor-facing work supporting production-critical systems. The role is Contract for a year with Robert Half, then will convert to permanent with the client. It is 3 days onsite, and 2 remote - Southern Mississippi -near Gulfport.If you enjoy working in manufacturing environments and want to be close to operations, this is a strong opportunity to step into a visible, high-impact role.The RoleThis Systems Administrator will support manufacturing and operational technology (OT) environments, ensuring systems on the production floor are secure, stable, and scalable.Responsibilities include:Deploying, configuring, and supporting servers, endpoints, and manufacturing systemsSupporting factory stations, Zebra tools, and production equipmentMonitoring system and network performance to minimize downtimePartnering with engineering, manufacturing, and security teamsTroubleshooting time-sensitive system and network issuesSupporting access controls, compliance, and security standardsDocumenting configurations and improving processes as the site scalesEnvironment and Ideal BackgroundThis role is best suited for someone comfortable in a fast-paced manufacturing or plant environment who understands how to support operations in real time.Backgrounds that tend to align well include:Automotive or industrial manufacturing environmentsFast-paced production environments (e.g., aerospace, EV, advanced manufacturing)Highly structured plant environments with strong operational disciplineAdditional experience that stands out:Exposure to both OT and traditional IT environmentsNetworking and security experience within a production settingExperience supporting physical infrastructure and site setup (endpoints, low-voltage, staging, etc.)Ability to work directly with engineers and plant leadershipExperience supporting evolving manufacturing workflowsWork EnvironmentOnsite role based in southern Mississippi (Gulfport area)Minimum three days onsite; majority of work is on the manufacturing floorThis will be the second Systems Administrator onsite, working alongside an IT Manager and coordinating with teams across other U.S. locations
