At the Arizona Department of Veterans' Services (ADVS), we are committed to serving and honoring veterans, service members, and their families by ensuring that they receive the highest quality services so they can thrive for a lifetime!We are looking for a compassionate Wound Care Nurse.Your rewards:The opportunity to receive a pension and healthcare benefits for a lifetime!Generous paid time-off benefitsEmployee wellness programs, and so much more!Your Contribution:Provide direct care services to veterans to improve their quality of lifeParticipate in facility meetings, training sessions, and the implementation of the Arizona Management System (AMS) to achieve continuous improvement and efficiencyUse your potential within a supportive team environmentJob Duties:Perform wound assessments, reassessments and management for all patients and per policies and proceduresDevelops skin care programs to prevent skin breakdown of residentsParticipate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to manage residents with draining wounds, fistulae and/or tubes; wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care, and incontinenceRevise plan of care as indicated by the resident's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan for effectivenessAssesses and reassesses painUtilize appropriate pain management techniques and educate residents and family regarding pain managementServes as a resource to nursing and other facility staff by providing in-services on wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care, and incontinenceCommunicates appropriately and clearly to nursing staff and PhysiciansProvides in-services on wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care and Incontinence for the nursing staff as necessaryCommunicate appropriately and clearly to nursing staff and physiciansConsults other healthcare professionals as appropriate to provide interdisciplinary approach to the resident's needsEnsure that documentation meets current standards and practicesAttend training and continuing education classes in the areas of wound prevention, wound management and ostomies and stays current with changes, new advances/treatment in wound careKnowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):Knowledge of:Gerontological/geriatric nursing theory and practicesKnowledge of the wound, ostomy and/or continence care specially in accordance with professional standards of practiceThorough knowledge of staging system of woundsKnowledgeable of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and clinical conditionAdvanced knowledge of sterile dressing technique and wound management product useSkill in:Wound care and management skillsTechnical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills relevant to area in order to effectively communicate and work well with providers, staff, residents, family members, and support staff in a dynamic and fast paced practice while willing to work under pressureGood organizational and time management skillsComputer skills, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and GoogleAbility to:Ability to teach and share knowledge with a multidisciplinary team involved in Skin Integrity and Wound Care, including wound staging and documentationDevelop and participate in quality improvement programs in the areas of skin Integrity and wound careInterpret data about the resident's status in order to identify specific needs and provide care neededSelective Preference(s):Experience in a skilled nursing facility/long term care environmentPre-Employment Requirements:Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in ArizonaCertification as a Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (CWOCN or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN)Must be able to obtain and retain a fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public SafetyCurrent CPR card that was obtained by physical assessmentAll newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).Benefits:The Arizona Department of Veterans' Services offers a comprehensive benefits package to include:Sick leaveVacation with 10 paid holidays per yearPaid Parental Leave-Up to 12 weeks per year paid leave for newborn or newly-placed foster/adopted child (pilot program).Health and dental insuranceRetirement planLife insurance and long-term disability insuranceOptional employee benefits include short-term disability insurance, deferred compensation plans, and supplemental life insuranceLearn more about the Paid Parental Leave pilot program here.
