Engineer I - Roadway Designer

RK&K is currently hiring a Transportation Engineer I to join our team in Richmond, VA. As a Highway/Roadway Engineer with RK&K, your responsibilities will include design and analysis of transportation facilities. Projects will include, but not be limited to new roadways, widenings, resurfacings, and multimodal improvements.Essential FunctionsDesign and analysis of horizontal and vertical alignmentsPrepare plan, profile, cross section, and detail sheetsDesign temporary traffic control plansCalculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates Support preparation of design documentationSupport preparation of specifications packagesWork with other disciplines on creative solutions to design challengesRequired Skills And ExperienceBachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related fieldZero (0) to Five (5) years of experience in roadway design Working knowledge of basic roadway design principalsPreferred Skills And ExperienceEngineering Intern (E.I.) license in DC/VA or ability to obtain within six (6) months Microstation or CADD experience Innovative intersection designSidewalk or shared use path designRoadway widening or new alignment designOther DutiesThis job description indicates the general nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other essential functions (as covered under ADA).
