The physical therapist may serve multiple localities within the PREP based on the needs of the overall program and participating localities (e.g. Albemarle, Charlottesville, Culpeper, Fluvanna, Green, Louisa, Madison, Nelson and Orange).Salary Range: Professional Salary Scale: $48, 010 - $74,670Salary is commensurate with years of related experience; advanced degree supplements are available as determined by the PREP Joint Board of ControlPrimary Function:Physical Therapists (PT) are responsible for planning, implementation and assessment of individualized education program (IEP) goals for students with disabilities in participating school division. As a related service provider, the PT provides appropriate intervention to meet students' individualized needs in acquiring independence in functional skills to participate in and benefit from the educational environment. Good communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to collaborate with parents, educators, and other school support staff. Organizational skills and the ability to work independently are paramount.Performance Responsibilities:Professional Performance Objectives.To comply with school and school board policies and regulationsTo work cooperatively with the total staffTo relate positively to parents and to other community representativesTo demonstrate professional growthTo be prompt and accurate with required records and reportsTo accept responsibilities as they relate to the accomplishment of job objectivesTo use instructional and planning time effectivelyPhysical Therapists Performance Objectives.Complete evaluations, develop measurable goals and plan and implement therapeutic interventions at intervals determined by the individualized education program (IEP) team and/or as required by the Regulations Governing Special Education Programs for Children with Disabilities in Virginia or other local, state or federal requirementsCommunicate results of evaluations and reports to students, parents, staff and when appropriate, other professionals and agencies concerned with the studentEstablish a system of documentation that is professional, efficient, and timely providing proof of accountability that conforms to state and individual agency policy including, but not limited to, individualized education programs, progress reporting, daily documentation, and Medicaid documentation when requiredCollaborate, consult, teach and monitor professionals and paraprofessionals involved with the implementation of physical therapy interventionsProvide consultation to schools and school divisions regarding students', staff and system needsAttend school team and IEP meetings as appropriateAttend PREP staff meetings and in-servicesSupervise, monitor and evaluate the job performance of any assigned physical therapy assistant or student as required by the Virginia Department of Health ProfessionsMake recommendations regarding adaptive equipment needs and maintain an inventory of therapy equipment and suppliesComplete other duties as assignedEvaluation:Performance will be evaluated on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the above responsibilities via the Teacher Performance Evaluation System.Required Qualifications:Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program following successful completion of all fieldwork requirementsPassed the Physical Therapy National Certification Examination and be licensed or be eligible for licensure by the Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP)Possess a National Provider Identifier (NPI) Number and be enrolled with Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) as an Ordering, Referring or Prescribing (ORP) ProviderAbility to lift a minimum of 30 pounds, walk an average of one mile per day, climb flights of stairs as needed, sit for extended periods in a car, and transition from standing to the floor and back during service provision.Preferred Qualifications:Three or more years' experience of pediatric workExperience in a school setting
