System Development Engineer
What you will do:
Take projects from requirements and use-case capture through proof of concept, testing, and mass deployment, then support them after release and adjust based on results.
Break ambiguous or expanding scope into well-defined tasks, and decide where new work fits with the least disruption to existing commitments.
Build tested, maintainable automation, services, and tooling in Java and Python, following SOLID principles and practical system design.
Make code changes in partner teams' services through feature requests and away-team contributions.
Design solutions that work globally from a single approach rather than region-by-region variants.
Use internal AI-assisted tools to generate and evaluate code, writing precise instructions and critically reviewing the output.
Read high-level and low-level design documents, and summarize key tradeoffs accurately and concisely in writing for partners and leaders.
Collaborate with dozens of stakeholders, leaders, and partner teams on business and technical decisions.
Diagnose problems across software, managed devices, and the network to root cause, and document your work in runbooks others can maintain.
Required Qualifications:
3+ years building and operating production software or infrastructure automation.
Proficiency in Java and Python, with code that follows SOLID principles and sound software design.
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals: IP addressing, subnetting, DHCP, VLANs, and NAT.A proven record of personally owning a technical project from start to finish (ideation, prototyping, development, release, and post-release support), including measuring results and making adjustments.
First-principles problem solving: the ability to decompose a complex problem into clear, executable steps.
Demonstrated curiosity and independent learning, and willingness to learn new internal systems quickly.
Clear, concise written communication of technical designs and tradeoffs.
Honesty about knowledge gaps and willingness to ask for help early.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
