VP, Global Investment Banking, Mining & Metals (Toronto)

OverviewRBC Capital Markets, a division of Royal Bank of Canada, seeks a Vice President for the Mining & Metals team in Toronto. This role offers a long-term career in a market-leading investment banking franchise with a global platform.ResponsibilitiesEvaluate and analyze clients' financial needs, building new and manipulating existing financial models.Lead M&A and financing transaction structuring and execution, coordinating due diligence and preparing and reviewing analysis.Present recommendations to clients and colleagues, generating pitch ideas and conducting market and financial research.Lead the development of analysis and presentations, monitoring regulatory and sector themes to identify potential changes to clients' businesses.Provide secondary coverage for key Mining & Metals clients, evaluating capital structure alternatives and providing recommendations.Attend in-person meetings, site visits, and drafting sessions with clients and prospective clients.Train, mentor, and supervise analysts and associates on day-to-day deliverables.Collaborate with colleagues across corporate and investment banking coverage and product groups to deliver holistic financing solutions.Qualifications5–7 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or corporate development, preferably focused on Mining & Metals.University degree, preferably with a focus on Finance, Engineering, or Geology.A desire to learn and a team-oriented mindset.Strong knowledge of market structure and themes, with a clear interest in investment banking and financial markets.High proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and strong quantitative, analytical, and financial modeling skills.Excellent written and verbal communication, data visualization, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work well under pressure with multiple deadlines while maintaining careful attention to detail.Flexibility in schedule to meet client deadlines.Leadership skillset and desire to make meaningful contributions in a fast-paced, team environment.Prior work experience in or covering the Mining & Metals sector, understanding of industry concepts, and proficiency with relevant professional designations (CFA, CPA, P.Eng) are considered an asset but not a requirement.BenefitsA comprehensive Total Rewards Program including competitive compensation, discretionary variable compensation, and flexible advantages.
