Food Service: Summer Server - Michener Elementary School

Food Service ServerAssists with the set up of the serving line and service of students in an efficient and pleasant manner. Reports to the Director of Food Service and may receive direction from the Head Cook and/or building principal.Essential duties and responsibilities include regular, reliable and punctual attendance, setting up lines following district guidelines, ordering required daily supplies, maintaining confidentiality, assisting with the daily cleaning of all serving areas and the kitchen, successfully completing APS required training, complying with all APS rules, policies and procedures, and providing support to other positions as required.Supervisory responsibilities include none.Education and/or experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), one to three years experience with food service preferred.Language skills include the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and to write simple correspondence.Mathematical skills include the ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's, and to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.Reasoning ability includes the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions, and to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Other skills and abilities include the ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students, to perform job and communicate in a noisy environment, to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community, and to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.Physical demands include frequently walking and continuously standing, frequently bending or twisting at the neck and truck, occasionally reaching with hands and arms, and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.Work environment includes temperatures above 90, walking on slippery surfaces, meeting deadlines with severe time constraints, interacting with public and other workers, and a frequently loud noise level.Equal opportunity employer: Adrian Public Schools prohibits discrimination in its policies, employment practices and programs on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, age, height, weight, marital or familial status, gender, disability, or national origin.
