PT Early Childhood Aide

Position: Early Education Center Assistant TeacherQualificationsEducation Level: Earned a high school diploma or higher.Certification: Child Development Associate (CDA) OR one year of Proficiency in Child Development or Childcare (PCD) OR Two-year Associate Degree in Childcare/Education (ACC), OR 60 college credit hours and experience working in a program with young children and their families preferred.Experience Desired: Minimum of 2 years working with the early childhood age group is desired. Experience in a school district or educational institution is preferred.Other Requirements: Possesses a good work attitude with a positive and pleasant disposition in relating to staff, students, and parents. Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education.General Summary: The Early Education Center Assistant Teacher supports the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children. This role involves assisting with the implementation of age-appropriate curriculum, facilitating activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. The assistant teacher will help prepare materials, maintain a clean and organized classroom, and provide support during daily routines. Strong communication skills, patience, and a passion for early childhood education are essential for fostering positive relationships with children and families. This position plays a vital role in promoting a positive learning experience and supporting the developmental needs of each child.Performance ResponsibilitiesBecome informed concerning rules, policies, and regulations of the center and school district and follow them. Be responsible for the supervision of children at all times throughout the school day. Have an understanding of child development, developmentally appropriate instructional methods, and techniques of effective classroom management.Ensure that all work is done in a professional manner. Demonstrates appropriate preparation for the job. Takes initiative in the classroom, sees what needs to be done and completes the task. Takes the initiative to solve routine problems on your own.Be responsible for your own involvement as a contributing member involving group decision making and the development of a positive, cooperating center environment. Promotes teamwork and a positive attitude.Accepts direction from lead teacher and is cooperative with parents as well as fellow staff. Demonstrates conduct representative of the center, school, and district to establish and maintain a good relationship with the community.Attend center-sponsored and professional meetings, and participate in center-related activities to help promote teamwork. Obtain all required continuing education training as required by Missouri Department of Health, Bureau of Child Care licensing and/or Missouri Accreditation.Handle all confidential information and material according to professional procedures.Maintain equipment, classroom and playground in good condition regularly checking all equipment for defects. Report all needed repairs to the center director.Be punctual and responsible in attendance. Absences must be cleared through the center director and entered into the HR portal within five business days.The ability to lift at least 30lbs.Capable of physical exertion to push, pull, bend, be on the ground for long periods, walk short distances, and lift babies/young childrenPerform any other duties as assigned by Lead Teacher, Principal or Assistant Principal.At the request of the Superintendent or designee, shall assist in other duties as assigned.The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
