Summer Program Staff Bus Driver

Overview The YESS Driving team is responsible for providing a safe and fun environment for children withintellectual and developmental disabilities. Drivers are responsible for transporting campers and staff to activities safely and overseeing the maintenance and cleanliness of assigned vehicles. Drivers are required to complete daily vehicle inspections at the beginning of their shift and submit information tracking at the end of their shift. When not driving, a driver can expect to provide direct support as a staff member. Duties Carry out the implementation of recreation activities and supervising the campers. Check campers in and out of care on occasion, provide needed first aid, handle behaviors and needs of the population. Attend all parent nights and open houses. Complete all incident reports within 24 hours. Drive recreation groups to various activity locations, following all traffic safety laws and relevant trainings. Inspect vehicles daily to ensure safety of vehicles before transporting participants. Communicate vehicle maintenance and gasoline needs to the Program Assistant and keep vehicles clean regularly. Requirements Valid commercial driving license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements. Air Brakes certification preferred but not required. Up to date on agency training Experience in bus driving or similar transportation roles is preferred. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and participate in recreational activities including but not limited to: walking, swimming, climbing, running and lifting.
