Director, North America Rebates
Position SummaryThe Director, North America Rebates is responsible for the strategic oversight, accuracy, and execution of all rebate programs across North America. This role ensures rebate programs are set up correctly, accrued accurately, and settled timely, with strong controls, documentation, and cross‑functional alignment. The Director leads a team focused on minimizing period‑over‑period volatility, reducing downstream corrections, and supporting compliant financial reporting.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn end‑to‑end rebate program governance, including program setup, maintenance, accrual methodology, and settlement processesEnsure rebate accruals are complete, accurate, and recorded in the appropriate accounting periodsLead month‑end and quarter‑end close activities related to rebates, including analysis of fluctuations and variance explanationsEstablish and maintain strong internal controls, documentation standards, and audit‑ready support for rebate accountingPartner closely with Procurement, Merchandising and external partners to resolve discrepancies and improve data qualityOversee rebate adjustments and corrections, ensuring root causes are identified and preventive actions are implementedDevelop and deliver training, guidance, and reference materials to improve consistency and understanding of rebate processesDrive process improvements that reduce manual effort, suspense items, and rework while increasing transparency and timelinessManage, mentor, and develop a rebate team, setting clear expectations and measurable success criteriaServe as the subject‑matter expert for rebate accounting, policy interpretation, and complex rebate structuresSuccess in This Role Looks LikeRebate accruals are timely, accurate, and require minimal post‑close correctionsPeriod‑over‑period fluctuations are well understood, documented, and clearly communicatedAudit and control reviews are completed with minimal findings or reworkRebate programs are consistently set up and maintained according to defined standardsStakeholders experience fewer issues, faster resolution, and clearer visibility into rebate activityThe rebates team demonstrates strong ownership, technical understanding, and continuous improvementQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field10+ years of experience in Accounting, Finance or aother related areas7+ years leading a teamCPA or equivalent experience preferredExtensive experience in rebate accounting, accruals, or complex incentive programsProven leadership experience managing teams and cross‑functional initiativesStrong understanding of accounting controls, documentation, and compliance requirementsAdvanced analytical skills with the ability to explain complex variances clearly and conciselyExcellent communication skills with a track record of driving alignment and accountabilityCircle K is an Equal Opportunity Employer.The Company complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (the ADA) and all state and local disability laws.
