Business Development Manager Rail & MRO
Job Title: Sales & Business Development Manager – Rail & MRO Location: UK Flexible Salary £60,000 + OTE + Car Allowance + Benefits Role Purpose This role is responsible for driving profitable growth and securing long-term business within the rail sector. The successful candidate will expand the company's presence across auxiliary power units (APUs), rail power electronics, battery chargers, repair services, and MRO solutions. The position focuses on developing new business opportunities across rolling stock OEMs, operators, maintainers, and supply chain partners, supporting both new-build programmes and lifecycle extension initiatives. Key Responsibilities Support the development and execution of the company's growth strategy within the rail MRO and rolling stock markets Identify, qualify, and convert opportunities related to APUs, DC power systems, battery chargers, upgrades, and lifecycle replacement programmes Build and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, operators, maintainers, depots, and fleet managers Manage and develop the sales pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting Lead customer engagement across both commercial and technical discussions Gather and analyse market intelligence, including refurbishment cycles, tender activity, and new platform developments Collaborate internally with Engineering, Aftersales, and Quality teams to deliver timely and effective responses to customer enquiries Represent the business at customer meetings, industry events, conferences, and depot visits Support pricing strategies, bid preparation, and contract negotiations Achieve or exceed targets for revenue, margin, and order intake Adhere to all Health & Safety policies, procedures, and safe working practices Qualifications & Education Formal sales training or a proven track record in technical sales Experience within rail fleet, depot, or maintenance environments Experience Demonstrated success in sales within OEMs, operators, freight companies, or MRO environments Knowledge of APU systems, battery chargers, DC converters, or reliability upgrades Experience within rail, rolling stock, or industrial power electronics sectors Ability to clearly communicate and present technical solutions Strong negotiation and influencing skills Commercial awareness with strong analytical capability Additional Information Strong written and verbal communication skills Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to work cross-functionally Willingness to travel to customer and prospect sites as required #J-18808-Ljbffr
