The Senior Automation Engineer is responsible for the lead role in design, development, and implementation of our customers’ automation systems during capital projects. The Senior Automation Engineer will be a significant contributor and often the lead technical resource on customer projects. The Senior Automation Engineer will deliver quality solutions and services to customers using the technologies provided by DeltaV, Asset Management Systems (AMS) and other Emerson solutions.The Senior Automation Engineer will have close interaction with project management and account management to ensure that the project is delivered within the schedule and budget and with the high level of quality expected by our customers. Additionally, the Senior Automation Engineer will provide mentoring and leadership to other engineers assigned to projects.The Senior Automation Engineer will also be expected to provide support to sales, generate estimates and proposals, and contribute to operations and project management functions.Specific ResponsibilitiesLead and work in a project team to meet schedule and budgetMonitor project scope and identify and evaluate potential deviationsDesign and implement process control strategiesImplement control strategy configurations within the DeltaV DCS systemWrite design documentation for a variety of continuous process control applicationsSupport Factory Acceptance Tests (“FAT”s) / Software Acceptance Tests (“SAT”s)Support start-up and commissioning activities at customer sitesTroubleshoot system hardware, software, network, and instrument bus technologiesContribute to company procedures and configuration standardsGenerate project configuration estimates and assist in the generation of proposal documentsDevelop custom shift, environmental, or production reports for plant maintenance and operations personnelConfigure process modeling & simulation (using both Mynah MiMic software & DeltaV)Work independently on-site at a customer locationRequired CompetenciesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to meet project team commitments and deadlines.Ability to work in team environment; a team playerAbility to work independently, self-directed, self-motivated, and detail orientedCustomer focusedOrganized and reliable; demonstrates integrityBe a United States Citizen with a valid driver’s license.Required Education and ExperienceB.S. in CHE, EE, ME, Comp. Eng., Comp. Sci., other related disciplinesMinimum 5-7 years of relevant experienceExperience with the Emerson DeltaV Control SystemMS Office ExperiencePreferred Experience/CompetenciesExperience with Emerson Legacy Control Systems or PLCsUnderstanding of regulated or validated systemsPrior experience working in a relevant manufacturing environmentWindows Server 2016/2019 and network troubleshooting skills
