We are committed to helping the population we serve, and our communities, achieve optimum health and enjoy the best quality of life possible.What You'll DoThe Van Shuttle Operator is responsible for providing regular, safe, reliable shuttle bus service to and from the hospital campus and remote parking lots. Assures routine service, maintenance, cleaning, and fueling of hospital shuttle buses is maintained. Provides information, and assistance services to patient and other visitors at the main entrance to the Clinic and Main Hospital Buildings. Provides backup transportation services for Cancer Treatment Center drivers and patients as needed to support the Cancer Treatment program. Provides backup services to Security department when needed for unusual circumstances or emergency code situations. Attends all required educational sessions, courses, seminars, and meetings needed to meet organizational needs or personal development. Provides other services as needed or required to support the overall Bassett Transportation Service needs. Must be able to drive in winter conditions.Provides regular, safe, reliable shuttle bus service for employees to and from Bassett Healthcare Campus and remote parking lotsArrives as scheduled for daily shuttle bus servicePerforms regular vehicle safety inspections according to hospital vehicle use policy and reports deficiencies to the Network Manager of Transportation for resolution 99% of the timeReports 100% of all traffic citations received and motor vehicle collisions involving a hospital vehicleOperates the Shuttle safely, within DMV traffic and safety laws and regulations, with no more than one violation or accident in any calendar year as reviewed annually by the Network Manager of TransportationOperates the Shuttle bus in a customer-friendly, professional manner according to customer service training, posted shuttle schedules, and approved designated pick-up or drop-off locationsAdheres to posted bus schedules based on random observations of the Network Manager of Transportation, or validated Employee Complaints. Exceptions to this standard will be allowed only if traffic, construction, accidents, or other like incidents are reportedPicks up and drops off employees only at approved designated locations listed on the shuttle bus schedules 100% of the time. Compliance with this standard will be based on random observations by the Network Manager of Transportation or validated employee complaintsOperates the shuttle bus at posted speed limits or less, 100% of the time based on random observations of the Network Manager of Transportation, or validated complaints received from employees, residents, or othersGreets patients and visitors arriving at the main hospital and clinic building entrances, provides information, direction and assists ambulatory patients from their vehicles if needed or requestedProvides greeter services at the main hospital and clinic entrances as scheduledGreets patients and visitors at designated entrances in a customer-friendly manner according to Customer Service Training standardsOffers physical assistance to those ambulatory patients and visitors, who request or require help getting out of or into their vehiclesAssures vehicle insurance certificates, inspections certificates, registrations, and licenses are up to date for 100% of all vehicles they driveAssure shuttle buses are cleaned dailyProvides backup transportation coverage for Cancer Treatment Center drivers and patients as needed or required as needed to support the Cancer Treatment programProvides backup transportation for Cancer Treatment Center drivers to cover vacations, holidays, and other emergencies when neededProvides additional transportation services to patients when the transportation needs exceed the CTC Drivers capabilitiesAdheres to schedules and appointment times for all patients being transported as determined by staff coordinating patient transportationPerforms similar or related duties as requested or directedPerforms other duties as requested and observed by manager or directorEducationWhat we need from you High School Diploma or GED, preferredExperienceMinimum 1 year previous experience driving a commercial passenger-carrying vehicle, preferredLicensure/CertificationsMust be able to meet criteria for NYSDOT and/or FMCSA requirements to operate a commercial motor vehicle, and maintain eligibility of insurability to operate the organization's vehicles. Must obtain a Class E Driver's License within 30 days of employment, requiredFirst Aid/CRP training, preferredPhysical RequirementsExerting up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
