Job Responsibilities The Assistant in Training (AIT) participates in the routine maintenance of golf course greens, bunkers, tees, fairways, rough, native areas, and cart paths. This role also supports crew supervision and training and assists with the application of fertilizers and chemicals across the course. This position is designed to help candidates grow within the turfgrass industry and prepare for an Assistant Superintendent role. Key responsibilities include:Daily course setup: mowing/rolling greens, setting cups/tees, raking bunkers, and detailing surroundsAssisting with oversight and inspection of all course areasApplying fertilizers and pesticides; calibrating application equipment; maintaining accurate recordsSupporting irrigation maintenance and moisture management using meters and supplemental wateringAssisting with managing small crews and projectsPerforming cultural practices such as topdressing, aerification, verticutting, overseeding, and turf repair Driving & Certifications Must hold a valid driver's license and successfully pass both a background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) check in accordance with Windham Mountain Club's insurance policy guidelines. Requirements Job Requirements:Previous experience in groundskeeping or a related field preferredNYS Commercial Pesticide Applicator CertificationKnowledge of tree care, lawn care, and irrigationStrong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of cleanlinessAbility to work effectively as part of a teamExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong leadership abilities Physical Requirements:Must be comfortable using power tools and lawn equipment, including tractors.Able to understand and follow written and verbal directions thoroughly and accurately.Must be comfortable interacting with both staff and guests in a friendly and helpful manner.Willingness to work in a variety of outdoor environments, including adverse weather.Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds.Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl regularly and remain standing for an entire work shift.
