With multiple schools across New York City, NYPKC blends a research-backed, play-based curriculum with a fun and supportive environment, delivering a full family experience for children and parents.About the RoleThe Teaching Education Director is a high-impact, hybrid leadership role designed for an experienced preschool educator who balances strong classroom instruction with location-level teacher support and management. Spending part of the day leading an inclusive 2s, 3s, or 4s classroom using Creative Curriculum or Tools of the Mind, you will model pedagogical excellence while creating the building blocks for lifelong learning. The remainder of your day is dedicated to location leadership, where you will support daily operations and staffing, conduct teacher observations, and provide the formal mentorship and training necessary to onboard new hires and elevate instructional standards across your location.This is an 11-month role, with the month of July off, in addition to one school break week, 5 PTO days and sick time.How This Role Fits Into the OrganizationThe Teaching Education Director reports to the Head of School and is responsible for program quality and teaching excellence within the school.This role partners closely with:Head of School (site leadership, enrollment, operations)Teaching team (coaching, support, development)Education leadership (curriculum alignment, standards)This role plays a critical part in ensuring NYPKC delivers a consistent, high-quality educational experience across all classrooms.What You'll DoLead Teacher (Primary Responsibility)Serve as the lead teacher in a preschool classroomDeliver high-quality, developmentally appropriate instructionCreate a warm, engaging, and well-managed classroom environmentBuild strong relationships with children and familiesProgram Quality & Curriculum ImplementationEnsure fidelity to NYPKC curriculum and educational approachMaintain strong classroom environments aligned to standardsSupport lesson planning, classroom setup, and instructional qualityEnsure consistency across all preschool classroomsTeacher Coaching & DevelopmentSupport and coach teachers through observation and feedbackModel strong teaching practices in your own classroomProvide guidance on classroom management, instruction, and engagementHelp onboard and support new teachersClassroom & Compliance OversightEnsure classrooms meet all licensing and safety requirementsSupport adherence to DOH/DOE standards where applicableMaintain organized, compliant classroom environmentsPartner with leadership on inspections and readinessFamily ExperienceSupport strong communication with familiesHelp ensure a positive, consistent classroom and school experienceAddress classroom-level questions or concerns in partnership with Head of SchoolPartnership with Head of SchoolCollaborate closely on:staffing and classroom coverageprogram quality and improvementsparent experience and communication* Support alignment between education quality and overall school performanceThe statements in this job description are intended to describe the essential nature and level of work being performed.
