We're excited to provide the best education in the best environment to our students!Academies of Math and Science – Nellis CampusSpecial Education Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant)Location: 1780 Betty Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89156Compensation: $15.50 – $19.00/hour (DOE)Start Date: Summer 2026Schedule: Full-Time, On-SitePosition OverviewAcademies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.AMS is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant) to join our team at the Nellis Campus in Las Vegas.The Special Education Paraprofessional works closely with general education and special education teachers to support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and diverse learning needs. This role provides targeted instructional support, assists with behavior interventions, and helps maintain a structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.The ideal candidate is patient, collaborative, and passionate about supporting students with special needs in achieving academic and personal success.Key ResponsibilitiesInstructional SupportAssist general education and special education teachers with lesson delivery, classroom activities, and instructional support.Work with students one-on-one and in small groups to reinforce skills, reteach concepts, and support IEP goals.Support differentiated instruction and individualized learning plans.Prepare instructional materials and assist with classroom setup and organization.Student Support & Behavior ManagementAssist in implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and provide social-emotional support.Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.Help maintain a structured, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.Encourage student independence, engagement, and positive behavior.Campus & Operational SupportSupervise students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess to ensure safety.Substitute for teachers when needed to support continuity of instruction.Assist with documentation and data collection related to student progress.Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet student needs.Model professionalism, patience, and high expectations in all interactions.RequiredQualifications & CompetenciesHigh school diploma or equivalent and passing score on a paraprofessional exam ORAssociate’s degree or higherPrevious experience working with students with disabilities or in a special education settingAbility to successfully complete required Nevada state background checks and clearancesStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentPreferredBilingual Spanish/EnglishExperience working in a Title I or high-need school environmentSkills & AttributesPatience, adaptability, and a student-centered mindsetStrong ability to support students with diverse learning needsAbility to remain calm and supportive in challenging situationsReliable, consistent, and detail-orientedProfessional and positive communication styleCompensation & BenefitsAMS offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support long-term growth and stability.Competitive hourly pay based on experienceMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) retirement plan with employer contributionsPaid time off (PTO)Disability and life insurancePerformance bonus opportunitiesOngoing training and professional developmentWhy Join AMSMission-driven work supporting underserved communitiesCollaborative and supportive school cultureOpportunities for career growth and advancement within a growing networkMeaningful role making a direct impact on student success and inclusionJoin us to enjoy rewarding challenges and ongoing opportunities!
