Research Associate Of Metalcasting Technical Services – Hybrid

Do you like the idea of supporting innovation in manufacturing, research, aluminum, Industry 4.0, sand additive manufacturing, and the future of metalcasting?The American Foundry Society is looking for a Research Associate of Metalcasting Technical Services to support key research initiatives, technical projects, government-funded work, and industry partnerships that help move the metalcasting industry forward.This is a great opportunity for someone with an engineering, science, manufacturing, or technical background who is organized, detail-oriented, and ready to build a career at the intersection of research, project management, and advanced manufacturing.Key Accountabilities:Documentation ManagementPrepare and maintain comprehensive white papers, proposals, project timesheets, accounting ledger support, and status/final reporting associated with Government and other source Research projects Annual SAM preparation and filing for AFS and CMIEnsure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with government and other source requirements.Project ManagementManage Research projects in collaboration with project partners, ensuring successful delivery from inception to completion.Develop project plans, monitor progress, and adjust plans as necessary to meet project objectives and deadlinesCoordinate with internal team and external partners to facilitate smooth project execution. Contract and Sub-Contract management and tracking Metalcasting Technical AssistanceAssist with AFS technical committees as assigned.Help plan and execute projects and workshops as assigned. Convey technical information and AFS policy positions orally and in writing.CommunicationConvey complex technical information and company policy positions clearly and effectively in both oral and written formServe as a liaison between the Society and external stakeholders, including Government agencies and Research partners.Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the research projects and organizational goals.Required Skills or Experience:This position is open to U.S. citizens only due to key duties related to projects funded by the Department of War.A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field. A minimum of 1 to 2 years of relevant manufacturing or related experience with insight into metalcasting.Knowledge of Aluminum, Engineering/Industry 4.0, Sand Additive Manufacturing, and Research is preferred. Strong organizational and/or project management skills with proven ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.Ability to think on one’s feet and convey information persuasively orally and in writing.Deep commitment to superior customer service, internally and externally.Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to read and write in English clearly.Position requires travel, occasional weekend and evening work.
