Sales Associate

We will continue to deliver the highest level of service possible to our customers to help them achieve the home environment they desire. We are your friends and neighbors, our roots are local, and we support our hometown. While always focusing on our customers, we strive to create an environment for our associates that is fair and supportive.
Sales
SA1 - Ensure customer satisfaction through the professional consulting to customers as you help them achieve the home environment that they desire. Listen to them closely; assist them in turning their expressed needs to wants and then to create clients from customers. Sales goals are achieved, there is strong evidence of maximizing your company’s customer assets and a high, as well as, ever improving percentage of customers become your clients.
SA2 - Generate a Follow-Through card on sold and unsold customers and maintain this card in your card file. Cross reference card to sketchbook notes. Follow-through with customers that gave you permission to contact them. Your card file is organized and well maintained, and it always remains in the store. You demonstrate consistent success with follow-through, and you exceed company standards.
SA3 - Attend company on-sight and off-sight training sessions on product, policies and skills. You demonstrate success with newly acquired skills and knowledge.
SA4 - Complete all paperwork neatly, completely and accurately. Cancellations, negative operational issues, nor customer service related issues arise from improper processing of orders.
SA5 - Comply with Customer Distribution system rules while utilizing Customer to Client selling skills, and completing the Customer Opportunity Logs and Worksheets accurately. Customer Distribution system functions as designed. Traffic counts are accurate and recorded daily.
SA6 – Walk your assigned area of the floor daily. Correct or report any problems with tagging, holes in displays, and damaged or soiled product. Your area exceeds company standards.
SA7 – Set goals for sales volume, follow-through processes, rough room renderings, house call activity, warranties, kits, fabric protection, etc. Standards are exceeded and your goals are achieved.
SA8 – Become proficient about Customer to Client Sales, merchandise, coordinating and room setting, delivery, customer service, computer systems, administrative functions and credit terms. Develop plans for improvement in areas lacking proficiency. You are able to use all company tools to aid you in the sales process, and there is no evidence of lost sales due to a lack of proficiency in any of the above areas.
SA9 - Inform credit customers about all decisions in such a manner as to encourage them to give information that was previously lacking, or allowing you to present alternative means for paying for desired merchandise. There is strong evidence that customers that are declined credit still purchase on a consistent basis.
SA10 – Review your written sales reports daily. Information assists your efforts in exceeding company standards and achieving your own goals.
SA11 – Provide customers with survey cards as required by management. Your customers are provided with survey cards.
SA12 – Always carry your sketchbook on the floor. Use your sketchbook to take notes, and develop rough room renderings with your customers. Cross reference sketchbook pages to the Follow-Through file. Never tear a rough room rendering or note page out of your sketchbook. Always leave your sketchbook in the store. Your listening skills improve, and you sell more customers more merchandise through the use of your sketchbook.
SA13 – Become proficient at processing special orders. Special orders processed to company standards to satisfy customer.
CA8 – Review all sales orders before processing. Serve as a checkpoint for processed sale. All sales orders are checked closely, and mistakes are caught and corrected consistently.
CL7 – Vacuum the store as required. The store is vacuumed and dusted as assigned. Upholstery is also vacuumed as needed. Spots on carpets or upholstery are quickly attended to. Carpeting and upholstery are appropriately maintained.
WAM2 – Produce documentation for returns or exchanges to be given to delivery for pick up. Returns and exchanges are properly processed.
General
G1 – Perform other tasks as requested by management. Volunteer as time allows. You understand that there is no such thing as “it’s not my job,” and you participate in a total team effort.
G2 - Ensure that not too many other tasks are migrating into your job description. Inform management of your inability to successfully complete your own job description tasks, due to too many ‘special’ projects. Management is made aware of too many tasks migrating into your job description
G3 – Participate in evaluations as required. Work as a team with management to develop your own performance. Performance improvement is successfully accomplished, and management supports your efforts.
G4 – Develop professional working relationships with all company employees and all teams. Conflicts get resolved quickly, permanently and with management’s assistance as needed. There is strong evidence to indicate that good working relationships exist with all employees and that conflict resolution is sought as needed.
G5 – Assist in the training of other employees. Training of other employees is consistently performed in a positive manner, and up to company expectations.
G6 – Participate in the taking of physical inventories. You participate as scheduled; your counts are timely and accurate.
CL5 – Report problems on the floor that require special attention. Problems that cannot be solved through normal cleaning efforts are reported to management.
CL9 – Clean up spills or accidents during the day. Emergency clean up is performed as needed
ADM25 – Check memo book for new memos. Read new memos and initial and date at top. Memos are read by employees and initialed appropriately.
