AKIVA is a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB).Position OverviewThe CDL Compliance Coordinator oversees commercial driving compliance for temporary personnel assigned to operate customer-owned or customer-managed commercial vehicles. This role administers driver qualification, CDL verification, certification tracking, transportation safety compliance, and drug-and-alcohol testing in accordance with FMCSA, DOT, and applicable state and customer regulations. The coordinator maintains audit-ready Driver Qualification Files (DQF) and serves as the program's subject-matter expert on commercial-driver workforce compliance.Key Responsibilities Maintain Driver Qualification Files (DQF) per 49 CFR Part 391 for every CDL-classified assignment Verify commercial driver licenses, medical examiner certifications, and applicable endorsements at hire and at renewal Administer FMCSA pre-employment, random, post-accident, return-to-duty, follow-up, and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing per 49 CFR Part 382 Coordinate Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) pulls, periodic reviews, and Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP) checks Track expiring CDL credentials, medical cards, and endorsements; coordinate timely renewals Maintain Clearinghouse queries (limited and full) per FMCSA requirements Support transportation safety initiatives including hours-of-service awareness, vehicle inspection, and incident response protocols Coordinate with customer Risk Management, Fleet, and Human Resources on driver qualification and assignment decisions Investigate and document driving incidents, near-misses, and customer-reported concerns Provide CDL-related onboarding orientations and refresher communications Maintain audit-ready DOT compliance documentation and respond to FMCSA, state, or customer audits Brief the program team on regulatory changes affecting commercial-driver workforce complianceRequired Qualifications Associate's degree or equivalent experience in transportation, safety, HR, or related field; Bachelor's preferred 4+ years of FMCSA / DOT commercial-driver compliance experience Demonstrated working knowledge of 49 CFR Parts 382, 383, 390, 391, and 395 Experience administering FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse queries Experience maintaining Driver Qualification Files (DQF) in audit-ready condition Familiarity with Motor Vehicle Record pulls, PSP checks, and CDL endorsement requirements Strong attention to detail, document-management discipline, and records-retention practices Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must be authorized to work in the United StatesPreferred Qualifications TSC (Transportation Safety Compliance) certification or NATMI Certified Director of Safety / Certified Safety Supervisor Experience supporting municipal, state, or county commercial-driver workforces Familiarity with Arizona Department of Transportation requirements and Tucson fleet operations Working knowledge of OSHA general-industry and transportation safety standards Experience with electronic DQF and compliance-management platforms Familiarity with AI-assisted compliance and document-review toolsTools, Technologies & FrameworksCompliance: FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse, DQF platforms, drug-testing portals | Verification: MVR vendors, PSP, CDL state portals | Productivity: Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat | Records: secure document management, retention systems | Reporting: Excel, compliance dashboards | AI: AKIVA-provided AI tools for document review, expiration tracking, and audit prepWhat AKIVA Offers Professional development and skill-building opportunities Supportive management team with Veteran-owned company values Opportunity to work on impactful public sector engagements Long-term contract engagement with potential for extension AI productivity tools and training provided at no cost to employeesComprehensive Benefits Package 401(k) with generous company match Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Short-Term & Long-Term Disability Insurance Paid Time Off (PTO) Profit SharingJoin Our AI Innovation NetworkInterested in staying connected with AKIVA's AI initiatives, research, and opportunities?Join our AI Innovation Network here: https://www.akiva.com/ai-networkEqual Employment Opportunity StatementAKIVA is committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants and teammates without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, physical disability, marital status, military and Veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
