The Cardiologist is a Licensed/Board Certified professional who plays a key role as part of the clinical operations team, providing direct patient care and assessments in the ambulatory health care center setting.ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and treat cardiovascular ailments, such as heart attacks and coronary heart disease.Take medical history, conduct physical exams, develop a plan of care, provide health education and specialty referrals.Provide follow‑up care and maintain thorough documentation through progress notes and summaries per ChenMed standards.Participate in clinical rounds and conferences.Provide excellent inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular care, care coordination, echocardiogram reading, and population management of the market’s members.Lead a cardiovascular care team that may include Care Promoters, Echocardiogram/X‑ray Technicians, and possibly a mid‑level provider, depending on scope and volume.Assist the Medical Director, Cardiology in managing day‑to‑day clinical and business operations and building relationships with providers and stakeholders.Consult the Medical Director, Cardiology to ensure guideline compliance and participate in risk and quality management programs.Manage the care of chronic cardiovascular diseases, examine patients, run or order tests, and recommend appropriate care plans for a panel of at least 5,000 patients.Assess patients’ ability to withstand cardiovascular or other surgeries and assist surgeons or invasive cardiologists with strategy.Run and accurately read EKG, chest X‑rays, and echocardiograms; order necessary lab tests.Prescribe medication and treatment in accordance with patient condition, payer coverage, and industry standards.Review PCP requests for external cardiology referrals and participate in delegated utilization authorizations.Possibly oversee cardiology clinical operations for 2–5 centers under the supervision of the MD, CVC.Exercise final medical judgment in patient care matters.Provide patient education on heart disease, wellness, prevention, and early detection.Assist with training and hiring of cardiology Care Promoters and NPs/PAs.Coach and mentor PCP physicians and other clinicians in cardiology management.Participate in cardiovascular team meetings, daily huddles, and focused clinical discussions.Assist with quality and performance initiatives, cost‑reduction strategies, and relationship building with internal and external stakeholders.Perform other related duties as assigned or modified at managerial discretion.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesThorough knowledge of pharmacologic agents used in patient treatment.Familiarity with standard cardiology practices and procedures.Superior clinical skills in managing seniors with complex medical needs across all care settings.Exceptional communication and relationship‑building skills with external organizations and PCP teams.Analytical skills and ability to manage for results, including population risk management.Conflict management and resolution skills.Sound verbal and written communication skills, proper telephone etiquette.Proficiency with electronic medical records, keyboarding, and Microsoft Office.Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationwide up to 15%.Spoken and written fluency in English.Education & Experience CriteriaMD or DO in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a similar specialty.Board certification in Cardiology (additional sub‑specialty certifications acceptable).Current, unrestricted, active license to practice medicine in the state of employment.Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration.Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Cardiologist.Experience working with interdisciplinary teams in quality improvement or medical/healthcare leadership.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within the first 90 days of employment.CompensationPay Range: $270,461 - $386,372BenefitsStandard employee benefits and career development/advancement opportunities are available. #J-18808-Ljbffr
