Behavioral Health Associates (BHA) is an educational organization. We offer an academic learning environment integrated with behavior support services for students diagnosed with emotional/behavioral disorders to empower the students in overcoming challenges and creating new stories in their lives.We currently have an opening for a Level II Special Education Teacher for our Polk Academy Location.POSITION GOALThe main goal of the Special Education Teacher is to identify the individual needs of each child and create a healthy, inspiring, and supportive learning environment. The student population worked with varies in needs based on individual student, i.e., high anxiety, low motivation, social skills deficits and many other areas that can affect a student's academic performance.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTeaching a small group of students and individuals inside and outside of the classroomPreparing and executing lessons to complete learning objectivesAssessing the students' work done in classDeveloping, adapting, and implementing education plans (IEPS) and teaching methods that are suitable for each studentUsing special tools and equipment provided to stimulate an interesting and engaging learning environment, as well as supporting students emotional needsCoordinating with administration to create individualized learning plans for the studentQuarterly updating parents/home districts on their students' progressTracking the academic/behavioral goal performance of students for signs of progressWorking with student one-on-one when they need extra help or attentionEstablishing and enforcing rules of behavior for students in the classroomEstablishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units, and projectsAdapting teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of each studentMaintain working relationship with Instructional Assistant in classroom to complete daily behavior sheet and provide daily communication to parent/guardianPerform other duties as assignedADDITIONAL SKILLSAbility to build positive relationships with students, parents, co-workers and outside staff/organizationsAbility to work well with students from different backgrounds who have different abilitiesWell-organized and self-driven to devise and adopt new techniques for teaching and keeping the class orderlyAbility to manage the classroom despite challenging behaviorStrong written and communication skillsCompassionate, kind and patient with childrenExcellent leader and mentor for studentsStrong attention to detail and an inquisitive mind to understand each individual studentStrong teaching abilitiesStrong conflict resolution skillsAdapting teach methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of studentsProficient active listening skills to understand and adapt to student's various learning/emotional/behavioral needsQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Bachelor's DegreeLevel II Special Education Certification (K-12), required.Minimum of 5 Years Experience.Experience with students with ASD.NCPI training is beneficial, but not requiredRestorative practice training is beneficial, but not requiredBENEFITSFull TimePaid Leave for Sick and Personal DaysTime Off for School Holidays and BreaksChoice of Two Medical Plans, Dental, Vision and Voluntary Life InsuranceCompany Paid: Group Life Insurance and Employee Assistance ProgramRetirement Plan with Company Match up to 3% of your Annual SalaryTuition ReimbursementPaid Year RoundWhen applying to this position, please include a copy of your Standard PA Teaching Application, letter of interest, resume, current clearances and PA Teaching Certification.Click Here to complete the Standard Application for Teaching Positions in PA
