No sponsorship available.About the RoleOur client is seeking an experienced Senior Java Reactive Engineer to design, build, and support high-performance, event-driven applications. This role requires deep expertise in Java, Kafka, Vert.x, and reactive programming, along with strong production engineering experience in distributed systems.Candidates must be comfortable working in a hybrid environment and be onsite in Phoenix, AZ three days per week.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and support high-performance Java applications using reactive architecture principles.Build non-blocking Java microservices using Vert.x and reactive programming.Develop event-driven solutions leveraging Kafka and asynchronous messaging.Handle reactive stream processing, backpressure, retries, error handling, and resilient service communication.Lead technical design, solutioning, estimation, and implementation efforts.Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root cause analysis.Drive application performance, scalability, and reliability improvements.Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, release support, and engineering governance.Promote engineering best practices, automation, observability, and coding standards.Required Qualifications8-12+ years of Java development experience.Extensive hands-on experience building event-driven applications.Strong experience with:JavaKafkaVert.xReactive ProgrammingNon-blocking MicroservicesDistributed SystemsStrong production support and troubleshooting experience.Experience leading technical design and mentoring engineering teams.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
