The role involves performing various respiratory treatments throughout the shift. The workload may vary depending on the season, with a maximum of 30 treatments per shift. Patients may range from NICU to geriatrics, including those in ICU, stepdown, MedSurg, and a small pediatrics unit. Experience is required to handle inpatient and ER cases. Job duties include drawing and analyzing ABGs, administering breathing treatments, and managing BiPAP and CPAP machines. Assistance with bedside bronchoscopy may also be required. The therapist will not perform EKGs. The role involves support during intubation procedures and may include the use of an LMA. A team lead or charge therapist will be present on each shift. Travelers may take on the charge role depending on their level of experience. The facility has Drager vents, Cervo-NICU, Hamilton transport vent, Vapotherm, and Philips v60 and v30 equipment. Shifts are self-scheduled with block scheduling options available. Weekends are required every other weekend, and holidays may require work based on departmental needs. Floating between ICU, floors, NICU, and ER may be necessary. The required scrubs are hunter green, which will not be provided. One week of unit-specific orientation will be conducted based on experience. This facility has policies regarding geographical requirements for candidates.
