Pre-Construction Estimator

Our client is a Nashville-based low-voltage systems integrator specializing in structured cabling, security systems, fire alarm & life safety, and audio-visual solutions.They partner with contractors, owners, and facility leaders to deliver systems that are scalable, intelligent, and built the right way the first time. They are looking for a Pre-Construction Estimator who understands both numbers and field execution. Position Overview The Pre-Construction Estimator plays a critical role in the sales and operations process. This position is responsible for developing competitive, accurate, and executable pricing packages for structured cabling and electronic security projects. The right candidate will collaborate with business development, project management, and field teams to ensure proposals are technically sound, operationally feasible, and aligned with customer expectations. Core ResponsibilitiesReview drawings, specifications, and bid documents for Division 27 & 28 scopesDevelop detailed takeoffs and labor estimatesProduce complete and competitive pricing packages with clear scope definitionsIdentify scope gaps, "gotchas," and risk factors in construction documentsCoordinate with vendors and manufacturers for pricing and technical inputParticipate in site walks and pre-bid meetingsSupport handoff meetings and project kickoffs with OperationsAssist Business Development with customer meetings as neededDevelop budgetary estimates for conceptual or design-build opportunitiesMaintain estimating templates, historical data, and cost benchmarksSupport value engineering discussions when requiredRequired QualificationsProven experience estimating structured cabling systems (copper & fiber)Proven experience estimating electronic security systems (access control, CCTV, intrusion preferred)Strong understanding of construction drawings and specificationsKnowledge of labor productivity for low-voltage installationsAbility to interpret scope from incomplete or conceptual documentsExperience working with general contractors and commercial construction environmentsProficiency in Excel and estimating software toolsStrong communication skills — both written and verbalPreferred QualificationsExperience with cloud-based security platforms (Avigilon Alta or similar)Familiarity with BICSI standardsExperience with Salesforce, Procore, or similar platformsField experience in low-voltage installation (highly valued)
