The Project Engineer (design focus) provides technical support to the Director, Design. Project Engineers assist with establishing design protocols and standards and communicating them to other team members. A large portion of their role is to review contractor submittals and progress drawings for compliance with established design standards. The role also includes researching new products and historical project related information. Project Engineers are highly organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and good communicators. This role is mainly in-office but can occasionally require visits to project sites.
Responsibilities & Duties
Project Document Reviews
Review contractor submittals for conformance with design standards
Review and backcheck progress drawings for highly detailed conformance with design standards
Track changes and follow up on requested revisions
Understand the connection between function and design to help identify areas that need improvement.
For projects that don’t utilize ProCore, route submittals and RFI’s to appropriate persons and track responses
Maintain Project Documents and Provide Information Control
Assist Director with updating and organizing design standards database
Organize and update project files related to design development
Assist Design Manager with establishing and communicating design standards
Solicit proposals for design services
Research products or historical project information
Organize complex information in a meaningful format using programs such as Excel and Bluebeam
Follow up on outstanding items and track issues to resolution
Create meeting minutes and assist with associated tasks
Communication with consultant teams, development managers, and construction project managers
Requirements
4+ years of related experience within the construction industry
High School Diploma required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, and/or related preferred
General understanding of drawing development and entitlement process
Hands on experience with construction processes for plan distribution, contractor submittals and RFI’s
Must be able to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
Proficient in Excel and Word. Working knowledge of ProCore and Bluebeam preferred
Must be organized and detail-oriented with the ability to comprehend complex design documents and specifications
Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
