Mid-Level Engineers Provide engineering expertise to FAA NAS modernization initiatives and integration of operational improvements. Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Develop, review, and validate operational concepts; define system architectures; perform functional analysis; and develop and manage requirements for ATM modernization or NextGen programs Define system performance and design constraints Develop and/or review specifications, drawings, and product descriptions Conduct life cycle engineering assessments Provide specialty engineering, configuration management, and systems engineering process management Develop, review, maintain, and test air traffic automation and decision support system adaptation data Analyze operational and developmental software baselines; support release planning; and identify and monitor quality and performance metrics Perform benefits analyses for operationally deployed capabilities and NextGen initiatives Support risk management initiatives in collaboration with program management and operations Qualifications US Citizenship required Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience Experience with and operational knowledge of FAA automation and decision support systems (e.g., ERAM, ARTS/STARS, TFMS, TBFM, TFDM, SWIM, ATOP) Experience developing operational concepts, scenarios, and use cases for demonstrations supporting NAS existing and emerging technologies and validating these scenarios and use cases by facilitating Tabletop exercises and Cognitive Walkthroughs with operational and technical Subject Matter Experts highly desired Experience with ICAO Provisions and Implementation Guidance development and validation as well as ATMRPP and IMP and their respective work activities, such as, Trajectory Based Operations Concept of Operations, Air / Ground SWIM Concept of Operations, and SWIM Manual and its associated updates Experience analyzing, developing, and testing system adaptation data and aeronautical reference data preferred Experience with the operational and engineering analysis support of UAS Traffic Management (UTM) Concepts, Data Exchanges, Architecture Development, and FAA/NASA RTT activities preferred Experience with Unmanned Aviation Systems (UAS) preferred Experience with the FAA Acquisition Management System artifacts preferred Experience with FAA Enterprise Architecture artifacts preferred Detail oriented, independent, self-motivated, and a proactive team member Excellent oral and written communication skills effective with operational, technical, and senior management audiences Education Engineering, computer science, operations research, mathematics, or physics degree Master’s degree preferred Travel Project related travel and trade shows as required
