Quality Assurance Specialist
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Quality Assurance Specialist to support quality activities within our machining and metal stamping operations. This role is responsible for ensuring that manufactured parts meet customer, engineering, and regulatory requirements through inspection, documentation, and continuous improvement efforts.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a high-mix manufacturing environment and partners effectively with production, engineering, and management to maintain consistent quality standards.
Responsibilities
Inspection & Measurement
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections for machined and stamped components
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements
- Verify dimensional accuracy, material compliance, surface finishes, and special characteristics
- Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, surface plates, and CMMs (as applicable)
Quality Systems & Documentation
- Maintain inspection records, inspection plans, and quality documentation
- Prepare and review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), Certificates of Conformance (COCs), and customer-required documentation
- Support and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems
- Assist with internal audits, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and document control
Nonconformance & Corrective Action
- Identify, document, and manage nonconforming material
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
- Support customer quality concerns, audits, and corrective action responses as required
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Work closely with machinists, stamping operators, engineers, and supervisors to address quality issues
- Assist with process improvements aimed at reducing scrap, rework, and variation
- Support new product introductions and complex or tight-tolerance jobs
- Help train production personnel on inspection methods and quality requirements
Qualifications/Skills/Experience
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- 3+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment (machining and/or metal stamping preferred)
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Proficiency with standard inspection tools and measurement techniques
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work independently and within a team
- Positive, “can-do” attitude
Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
