::: {tabindex="0"}Open Until FilledPrimary PurposePerform routine clerical and technical duties so the librarian is free to work directly with students and teachersQualificationsMinimum Education/Certification:A high school diploma or equivalentAn associates (or higher) degree ORMeet the rigorous standard of quality required by the districtLibrary Technical Assistance training- preferredSpecial Knowledge/SkillsStrong communication, public relations, organizational skillsComputer skills are mandatoryProficient skills in typingProficient keyboarding and file maintenance skillsAbility to shelve books following district cataloging systemAbility to work well with childrenEffective, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to communicate effectively (verbal and written)Work ConditionsTools/Equipment Used:Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard library equipment including imaging equipment; standard instructional equipmentPosture:Regular sitting, standing, kneeling, squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingMotion:Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular overhead reaching; climbing laddersLifting:Frequent light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds); occasional moderate lifting and carrying (up to 40 pounds)Environment:Work inside; work alone; exposure to biological and chemical hazards such as mold and dustMental Demands:Work with frequent interruption; maintain emotional control under stressRegular attendance is an essential functionMinimum ExperienceOne or more years preferable in an office or library clerical positionExperience Working With School Age Children- PreferredMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Instructional Assist students and teachers in locating both print and electronic information and helps instruct teachers and students on computer/internet usage and how to access the electronic card catalog and other institutions, on-line catalogs and data bases. Help students create a final product through use of all library resources. Read to small groups of students and listen to individual students read aloud- elementary only. Supervise and monitor students as assigned and assist librarian and teachers to maintain appropriate student behavior and an orderly atmosphere.Technology Help with the operation, instruction, and maintenance of library technology devices and assists students and teachers in use of on-line automation system. Operate, instruct, troubleshoot, and maintain audiovisual equipment, technology devices and other equipment in the library.Acquisitions/Cataloging/Collection Maintenance Maintain library automation systems by loading or attaching and deleting records. Periodically publish updated lists of new materials, recent acquisitions, video inventory, etc. Assist the librarian with annual inventory and makes corrections in electronic shelf list as needed. Maintain records of material ordered and received.Circulation Use on-line circulation systems to check materials, make library cards, maintain records such as overdues, inventories, and keep a check in/out calendar for equipment. Assist students and teachers in locating print and non-print resources. Locate and prepare carts of materials needed by teachers for projects in the classroom.Clerical Operate library in absence of librarian, performing such duties as logging onto online databases. Submit work orders for equipment repairs; maintains and order supplies, at the librarians request. Maintain organizational integrity of the library facility including shelving, displays, and bulletin boards. Maintain financial records relating to lost book payments, book fair sales, and overdue fines.Other Follow district saf ty protocols and emergency procedures. Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
