Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Aiken, SC (Onsite) Duration: Long Term (Please Note: US Citizen Only) Education: · BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Experience/Skills: · U.S. Citizen · Demonstrated previous SRS Design Engineering experience and working knowledge of design processes and procedures (preferred) · Possessed an active DOE clearance (“L” or “Q”) within the past two years (preferred) · Demonstrated a minimum of 15 years design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry. · Demonstrated a minimum of 5 years of experience working at one or more DOE facilities. · Demonstrated a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a nuclear industry/facility. · Demonstrated experience creating and revising documentation in one or more of the following areas: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specifications; Failure Analysis; Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews. · Ability to perform weekly field walk-downs of the job site for engineering work being performed. These walk-downs may involve constructions sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances over a half mile, climbing ladders to access remote areas, dressing out in protective clothing, and environments where a respirator is required. · Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance. Duties/Responsibilities: · Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to department. Primary responsibilities include engineering analysis, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specifications; Failure Analysis; Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews.
