School Cafe Manager

Snelling is now hiring full time cafeteria managers in Charlotte. Must be able to work 8 hours a day, be flexible on the start time and must be able to pass CMS hiring criteria, pass a background check and MUST have reliable transportation. (THIS POSITION HAS FEES ATTACHED TO APPLY, PLEASE CALL FOR MORE INFO 704-525-4555) Job description:Overview -Direct Hire MUST BE SERVSAFE CERTIFIEDPerforms a variety of tasks designed to gain hands-on experience and knowledge in order to perform the duties of a cafeteria manager. Focus of training will be on rules and regulations, record keeping, and menu and inventory management for the CMS School Nutrition program. Incumbents will be guided by a training manager while they acquire skills needed for promotion to cafeteria manager. Persons in this position will be given short-term assignments to gain practical experience in applying the procedures learned during the training period. Assignments will vary in location and length of time. Incumbents in this class serve under training conditions while acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge for promotion to Cafeteria Manager. Incumbents must successfully complete the training program within one year. Externally hired incumbents who do not successfully complete the program within one year will be terminated.DutiesCollects data and learns to complete government reports Trains on menu management Learns HAACP procedures and Health Department regulations as they apply to school food service Learns food ordering process for all food and supplies needed for operation Learns how to use POS system and other computer software Effectively uses Microsoft Office or comparable word processing and spreadsheet programs, as well as knowledgeable in email communication. Ability to learn and navigate web-based software programs as needed for position. Learns how to plan work schedules to assure the feeding of all students in a timely manner Learns payroll process Learns procedures for maintenance and repair of foodservice equipment Participates in quantity food production and meal service Performs related duties as assigned. ExperienceProven experience in kitchen management or restaurant management is essential. High School/G.E.D. with additional specialized/technical training or some college courses 5 Years of Experience in Foodservice Management OR Associate Degree in Foodservice Management and 2 years of experience in foodservice management OR BS Degree in Foodservice Management with 2 years of experience in a supervisory position. Strong background in food management or hospitality with a focus on customer service excellence. Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing teams in a food service environment. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities• Knowledge of use and care of all kitchen equipment • Knowledge of all MC Health Department regulations and HACCP procedures • Knowledge of principals of quantity food production • Organizational skills • Computer skills • Math skills • Management skills, with emphasis on teambuilding and interpersonal skills Physical RequirementsRequired to exert physical effort part of a normal work shift in handling objects over 30 pounds. There is regular and frequent exposure to one or more disagreeable work and/or climate conditions, such as hot, wet, stormy, dusty or noisy immediate work area. The work environment is sometimes uncomfortable but relief from the situation is not required during a normal work shift.
