Senior Algorithms Engineer
About LyteLyte builds perception systems for Physical AI operating in complex environments. The company combines custom silicon, integrated sensors, and software into a unified platform for robotics, mobility, and next-generation automation. Lyte is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, with a global presence. For more information, visit www.lyte.aiIf you’re excited about building impactful technology in a dynamic, hands-on environment, we’d love to hear from you!About The RoleWe are seeking a Senior Algorithms Engineer to research and develop the algorithms that power our high-performance sensing products for robotics and physical AI applications. The algorithms you build are consumed downstream by our physical AI perception team and by the customers who integrate our sensors. The role spans signal processing, detection and estimation, spectral analysis, camera and image processing, computer vision, and machine learning, applied across sensing modalities and increasingly combined with one another. You will take algorithms end to end: from research and prototyping, through validation in simulation and against real-world scenarios, to bring-up and integration into customer platforms. This is a deeply hands-on role. You will derive the algorithm, get it running, and then prove it holds up on real sensor data at scale, closing the gap between what simulation predicted and what the hardware actually does in the field. You will work closely with hardware, firmware, silicon, and system teams. What You'll DoResearch and develop DSP and detection algorithms across the full sensor processing pipeline, including spectrum analysis, filtering, estimation, and detectionDevelop camera and image processing algorithms, from raw sensor data through the imaging pipeline to downstream consumptionDevelop computer vision algorithms for tasks such as detection, classification, segmentation, tracking, and depth and 3D/4D point-cloud processingDesign, train, and evaluate machine learning and AI models for sensor processing and multi-sensor fusion, and prepare them for deployment on the target platformCombine classical signal processing with learned components, and fuse information across sensing modalitiesPrototype, model, and validate algorithms in Python and CAnalyze large real-world and simulated sensor datasets to characterize algorithm performance and identify failure modesDefine KPIs and build the validation infrastructure used to measure algorithm performance across releasesWork with the embedded and silicon teams to ensure algorithms map efficiently onto the target compute platformSupport bring-up and debug across the algorithm, firmware, and hardware boundaryPartner with hardware, firmware, and system teams on requirements, architecture, and performance trade-offsDocument algorithm design, assumptions, and validation results for internal and customer useRequired QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field5+ years of experience in algorithm development and data analysis in robotics, physical AI, IoT, or multimodal sensor applications5+ years of experience in signal processing, including spectrum analysis, filter design, estimation and detection theory, and optimizationHands-on experience developing computer vision algorithms and applying machine learning to sensor data – clustering, tracking, classification, segmentation, and 3D/4D point-cloud processingExperience training and evaluating neural networks, including dataset curation and performance analysisDemonstrated experience taking signal processing, computer vision, or ML algorithms from research through to a working productProficiency in Python, with working knowledge of C or C++Strong data analysis and performance validation skillsStrong debugging and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks in parallel and make consistent progress with limited supervisionPreferred QualificationsPhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related fieldExperience with radar or LiDAR sensor processingFamiliarity with image signal processing (ISP) pipelines and tuningFamiliarity with stereo and multi-camera processing, including calibration, rectification, and depth estimationFamiliarity with ML and AI toolchains for training and deploying neural networks, such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, and with model optimization techniques including quantization and pruningFamiliarity with the constraints of running algorithms on embedded compute, such as DSP cores, hardware accelerators, or fixed-point arithmeticExperience with GPU or parallel programmingExperience supporting customer integration and bring-up in robotics or industrial programsBenefits (subject to location and local regulations)Competitive salary and equity Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) retirement plan Flexible vacation and time-off policy Collaborative, fast-paced, and inclusive work environment Opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies with a highly cross-functional team The Pay Range For This Role Is130,000 - 200,000 USD per year(Bay Area, CA)
