For our client, we are seeking a Technical Program Manager Research to join the team of a leader in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech space. This role will lead technical initiatives focused on scalable systems, platform reliability, and meaningful business transformation. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a Pharmaceuticals & Biotech environment.Location: San Francisco, CA - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship availableCompensation: $365,000 – $435,000 annuallyResponsibilities Embed deeply within a research domain to build trust with researchers and identify high-impact problems Adapt quickly across various research areas and delve into new domains Drive execution of complex research initiatives without established guidelines Establish processes that provide structure in unstructured research environments Lead large-scale compute resource planning and prioritization across workstreams Standardize evaluation plans and reporting for model launches Coordinate the execution and health of RL environments and training runs Present clear recommendations to research leadership for informed decision-makingQualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field 5-7 years experience in ML research or engineering with program management Hands-on experience with training, evaluation, or large-scale distributed systems Ability to quickly learn and engage with unfamiliar technical domains Proven track record in operational ownership of complex technical systems Strong skills in stakeholder management and influencing senior staff Comfortable in high-stakes environments with significant decision impactBenefits Visa sponsorship available Hybrid work policy requiring at least 25% in-office attendance Commitment to diversity and inclusion in hiring process Support for employee well-being and safetyOur client is an equal opportunity employer.
